Didn't Brett say that his recording machine ran out of tape when recording the orpheum gig? I remember hearing that on their radio show. Also, I would think adding the other six songs would basically leave a side of vinyl blank, unless you had about nine minutes of songs on each side. Who knows though..

But splitting the rest of the set into a cd and then 6 download tracks was a fucking stupid idea.

They did it so they didn't have to use two discs/vinyls for the show and thus, save money.
If they hadn't changed Vitalogy into a 2-lp version they could have included an extra disc for the Orpheum tracks. Vitalogy doesn't need to be on 2 lps, it was fine as it was.

The thing that annoys me the most is that the Orpheum show sounds amazing. Knowing that it's incomplete is what sucks. 16 songs out of a 25 song set means that over a third of the show is missing.

Also, does anybody remember why they left Sonic Reducer and Rockin In The Free World off DITP? I thought I read that it was because they were covers but Sonic Reducer and Fuckin Up are both on the Orpheum release and they've all been available on official boots before?

Personally I don't mind at all the way they released it. I like the fact that they gave something to us 10C members that people didn't get in stores. Although I imagine the bonus tracks are probably already up on a torrent somewhere for the world to pluck, it's the thought that counts. I felt the same way about the Avocado Bonus Disc. Was it great quality? No. Could they have done better? Sure. But it was a free gift and I'm not going to be an ingrate over it.

As somebody who has collected a lot of really bad bootlegs over the years from various bands, it doesn't really bother me that the songs don't fit seamlessly together. We have been pretty pampered with all of these official "bootlegs" that it is now an issue for people when a show isn't released in its entirety or doesn't flow seamlessly. I would imagine what Dark Star said about the tape issues is probably true. Have you ever looked at all the bootlegs out there of soundboard recordings made prior to the Binaural tour? Almost every one of them has some issue about the sound dropping out for a minute or so, or some other technical difficulty.

I felt kind of the same way during the Riot Act tour. When Ed came out and did Arc in Dallas it was the most memorable moment of the show, and for whatever reason they decided to leave those 9 performances off the various bootlegs. Since I was there and it was THE standout moment of a somewhat mediocre show I felt kind of cheated that it wasn't on the boot, but hey, I got over it. And by the way I know the official reason, but I never found it satisfactory myself. But it's not THAT big of a deal, and I enjoy the rest of the songs.

I've edited together the CD tracks and the bonus tracks to make them flow somewhat good. It's not perfect, but it's very listenable. Eventually I'll upload it onto my blog but it's too soon with the reissue just being released.

There's one titled "04.12.94 Definitive Orpheum Theater Boston, MA FINAL FINAL". It's pretty good quality.

and it's an editing together of the Orpheum disc and the digital bonus tracks?

    ah yeah! :)

3 tracks they didn't have. Which is fair enough.

For the ones who have received the ten club download link for the six bonus tracks: I need to know if they were mp3's at 256 or 320 kbps?
    Thanks for the answer
