You folks are hilarious. Love Eddie, but Bono, Jim Morrison and Plant are just about where they should be. I never really got the U2 hate around here. When it comes to selling out stadiums and keeping rock alive in the mainstream (face it, most people beyond are jamily don't even know PJ is still making music), Bono and his voice will always get my respect. My Pearl Jam Road: 10/22/90 Seattle | 12/22/90 Seattle, Moore Theater | 9/29/92 Seattle, Magnusson Park, Drop in the Park | 9/5/93 The Gorge, with Neil Young and Blind Melon | 7/20/06 Portland, Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with Sleater-Kinney | 7/22/06 The Gorge, 10/21/06 Mountain View, Shoreline Ampitheatre, Bridge School Benefit | 9/21/09 Seattle | 9/22/09 Seattle | 9/26/09 Portland, OR | 7/14/2011 Eddie Vedder, Portland, OR | 11/29/13 Portland, OR0 -

because bono all of a sudden cares about africa when u2 is releasing a cd. i'm sure pearl jam would still be in the news if they hopped on the donating bandwagon before every album release.
sadly, they do it 24/7 with no media coverage. stupid pearl jam.
(edit: this sarcasm is in no way directed towards you. it's just my annoyance with the praise bono gets)0 -

Not very good sarcasm. In fact, for sarcasm to work, it has to be infused with irony that is based on some biting truth. Bono's work with Africa is hardly of the bandwagon variety. The man has been named Person of the Year by Time and has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his tireless work to end poverty as we know it. Indeed, he is most active when U2 is on hiatus, not when they're promoting an album. Beyond the fact that he uses his celebrity to advance mankind and to speak for those without a voice (something that I admire in Pearl Jam as well), Bono's voice is iconic. My Pearl Jam Road: 10/22/90 Seattle | 12/22/90 Seattle, Moore Theater | 9/29/92 Seattle, Magnusson Park, Drop in the Park | 9/5/93 The Gorge, with Neil Young and Blind Melon | 7/20/06 Portland, Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall with Sleater-Kinney | 7/22/06 The Gorge, 10/21/06 Mountain View, Shoreline Ampitheatre, Bridge School Benefit | 9/21/09 Seattle | 9/22/09 Seattle | 9/26/09 Portland, OR | 7/14/2011 Eddie Vedder, Portland, OR | 11/29/13 Portland, OR0 -

good for him. he sleeps in his billion dollar mansion, wearing his million dollar sunglasses, and yet he has the balls to preach to the rest of the world about poverty? the guy is the ultimate hypocrite. but if time says he's the man of the year, i gotta believe it.
and when i mentioned the sarcasm, i was talking about when i called pearl jam stupid for doing poverty work 24/7 with no media coverage... implying that if there was coverage they would be more popular (referring to your statement that most people outside of the pearl jam family don't know PJ is still making music). sorry it was over your head.0 -
