the pace is relaxed, they even take their time on corduroy/evenflow and don't play them at light speed. ed's voice is in good form, they are in good spirits and fucking hell people, THESE BOOTLEGS SOUND AMAZING!! cheers the sound people on this round. let's hope the vault shows sound just as good!

Honestly, to me the best tours since 98 were the ones theyve done not to promote an album. Canada 05, Europe 07 and East Coast 08- best since 98.
I wonder if it has anything to do with them being shorter tours and they can maybe put more energy into 10-15 shows rather than 50+ shows.

38+6 shows at the age of 27 and counting...but still no Undone

    Totally Agree.

The band has never sounded better. This last tour was amazing. I hope this energy carries through onto the next album

i can see that for sure. its almost like you can feel that they know its a short run and that they are working, really working to deliver the best outta each song.

Agreed. This tour was probably the best I've seen them.

From the years I've seen the band:
1.) 2008 - Best setlists. Most energy. Best crowds. I'm glad they kept the tour relatively short so the band didn't burn out.
2.) 2005 - Incredible setlists, and the band really seemed to be having fun. The Canadian crowds rocked.
3.) 2003 - I loved the Riot Act tour. It was controversial at times. The band played a wide array of songs and seemed renewed. This is when I truly realized how awesome PJ live shows are.
4.) 2006 - Great shows, but the crowd was still feeling out the new material.
5.) 2004 - I enjoyed the cover songs, but the shows were shorter and the band seemed to be warming up the entire VFC tour.
6.) 2000 - Most bootlegs seem unenthusiastic compared to later tours. The band seemed to be going through the motions too often. Not enough varied setlists.

i have to say though, that the 2000 europe boots have some really great energy. the italian shows especially. verona is probably one of the best ones of that series. still don't hold a candle to this tour cycle though.

Not trying to put a damper on this thread but Evenflow and Corduroy sound exactly the same as they have the past 10 years or so. I noticed no "relaxed pace" at the 4 shows I went to. And the general consensus is the quality of the bootlegs leaves something to be desired.

That said, as someone who went to shows on the 2005 and 2008 abridged tours, I think they have been some of the best shows. I like when they have no album to promote and they will play anything. Not that they didn't mix it up in previous years but more so on these short tours.
