GREAT, Tomas Young NEWS!!!!
Hello Friends of Tomas,
GOOD NEWS:
Tomas is leaving the KC hospital tomorrow! He is going to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, one of the very best facilities in the country. His mom packed up all his things, including many boxes of thousands of wonderful cards and letters Tomas received. Tomas and his mom developed a routine of reading the new cards every morning to start the day. I think all the good vibes from every state and several foreign countries helped Tomas find the inner strength to beat the odds.
He has come a long way from almost dying or becoming a vegetable to regaining all his brain capacity and humor. His speech is compromised (he says he sounds like Steven Hawking) and motor control of his arms and hands are also compromised, but it is hopeful that he will get it all back, and maybe get into better shape than ever. He will finally be getting the care and attention he never got from the VA.
The new address where Tomas can receive mail is his home address. His mom will forward mail to him in Chicago:
