Pearl Jam music at your funeral?

edited June 2008 in The Porch
As my beloved sister will be passing soon, my own mortality has been on my mind a lot. I believe in the afterlife so death per se doesn't upset me so much, it's just the sorrow of missing that loved one that aches so much.

So in thinking about my own funeral, I immediately thought how appropriate it would be to have some Pearl Jam music jamming in the background of my funeral or afterwards at the family reception/gathering.

The first song that came to my mind was 'Alive'!

If I have to, I will write up some funeral terms (oh, I also want to be cremated) that will specify Pearl Jam music as my goodbye.

What about you guys? Have you attended the wake/funeral of a hardcore Pearl Jammer and they requested their music to be played?

at the funeral his family decided to play betterman and black.

Yellow Ledbetter as they are lowering me in the ground. This would cue people as it was the end of the show and they could begin to leave :-)

It would have to be Present Tense for me, or should I say everyone else who is attending.

I want them to play Pennywise's 'Bro Hymn' at my funeral.
    That... or 'Fuck Authority'.
    ...
    It would be fitting.

What's the song that Ed sings with the choir? Is it Long Road? That's a good rendition.

One song says it all for me... "Black".

my mom died last summer. my sister and i each wanted to pick a song to play after we spoke during the service. during my talk, i described the bond that we had shared through music. she was a huge neil young fan, but never got to see him live. the first time i went to bridge school (in 2003), i called her during neil's set so she could hear the show. she always talked about how much that meant to her.

so naturally, my song choice was Long Road. we even put a few lines from the song on the front of the service program.
