    I work in the travel industry -- All of the airlines are in financial turmoil because of the cost of fuel. They are used to load factors of 80% - 90% -- they lose $$ if the flight is not at those levels and cancellations will become more common. Another poster recommended taking the next flight because you never know what will happen tomorrow. Traveling will continue to be unpredictable.

    Yeah, that's understandable. But you can't tell em the airlines can't tell how crowded a flight it until 30 minutes before take off. That is some bullshit.

    At least you'll see the shows. I flew my bro up to see the Yankees playoff games and he missed game 1! So fuckin pissed.

    but this is happening more and more.
    Check and print out the schedules for all the other airlines so that you will know what other options you have.

    And dont be afraid to fly to newark or JFK many many more flights in and out of there.

    I usually only fly Southwest, and let me say, it's the best airline of all time. They are so reliable. It's just that they don't fly to NYC :(.


    Anyway, I think I'll head out to the bar here in a little bit.

    Why did you not take Southwest to Newark and then the NJ transit to MSG (Penn Station)???? That made no sense at all....

    American Airlines has screwed me the most. The worst is when my connecting flight in Chicago was out on the runway and they lied and said they had to taxi back to top off with fuel. As soon as we were docked, they told us the flight had been canceled and to get off the plane.

    No apology. No direction. Just get off and collect your shit. All that was missing was Cherry from Beerfest yelling "Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, your FUCKED!"

    I agree and I definitely don't understand why or who make decisions to cancel etc. Traveling definitely sucks and it it mainly due to the airlines and we are at there mercy. I am not defending them and I deal with these issues daily so I am totally sympathic.

    Hope there are no issue for tomorrow !

    Similar thing happened to me on the way to Lollapalooza last year. I don't think it was Delta though.

    Yes it does. But like I said...I HAD A REALLY GOOD RATE ON THESE DELTA TIX BECAUSE I WAITED TOO LONG TO BOOK THESE TIX AND IT WAS ACTUALLY CHEAPER THAN SOUTHWEST AND MY FRIEND WHO IS PICKING ME UP IS COMING FROM QUEENS.

    This is my last post on this. But the one thing I've learned in flying is you can't trust the schedules. EXPECT DELAYS!! I plan on being screwed up by 6 hours. I would rather get somewhere way early then be hosed by delays. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people miss connections (especially from intl flights) because they had a short connection. Take the earliest flight you can and if your flight is cancelled get on the next possible flight, it is only going to snowball. When you are flying and things start to go bad they get real bad, real fast. Don't rely on scheduled flights to ever be on time. You are going to be delayed. I will shut up now. :)

    The only other flight out of Midway to La Guardia today is at 5:30 p.m. with a stop in Atlanta and I wouldn't get to NYC until 11:30 p.m. tonight. Mind you it's only 12:30 p.m. I'm not about to have an 11 hour travel day. Not today, not ever. So I ask about tomorrow and there is a 7 a.m. direct flight to New York. I then check out some other airlines around, but nothing. So now I'm back home after a two hour airpost visit and postponement of a killer three days in NYC...now it's only 2. Even worse I have to get up at like 4:30 a.m. tomorrow to make my flight. Luckily I'll still make the shows, but...


    FUCK YOU DELTA AIRLINES. NEVER AGAIN. JUST SAY NO TO DELTA.

    This is exactly why i decided not to go to the florida shows, my fear of my flight being cancelled out of Newburgh NY

    Was just a thought. Driving 50 miles here in Southern California is the norm. The friend is in Queens. At least in the direction of Islip but still pretty far. I would make the drive for one of my friends. Mapquest says it is about 1 hour 10 minutes. At that time of night, probably true. I understand the price thing. Shame it happened. One of the most frustrating things to be held prisioner in an airport. Or just the fact that you paid for something that was advertised as being available, depended on it and they fail to perform. I can understand weather and mechanical. I can't understand canceling based on economics. What if a painter, 1/2 done with your house decides not to show up to finish because he won't make money. Is that right? Neither is it right for the airlines or anybody else.

    Try to get Delta to pay for your Southwest flight.

    Delta is the worst airline that I have ever flown on....awful, simply awful...it's amazing that they are still in business.

    Yeah, right. If there is one thing I've learned in my lifetime of flying...all other airlines despise Southwest. They want nothing to do with that carrier.
