found this, not sure if this has been posted...

i found it interesting that the review mentions that the songs were "re-mixed" cause i though they were just remastered but basically the same...cool that the songs might be tweaked a little bit

    That doesn't sound good at all. I hope they haven't ruined the songs

    you're paying for the trinkets and packaging and what not... the albums were perfect the way they were

    I agree here, I don't believe they needed remastering. I don't think any album does really. Re-issues/re-masters are basically a cash cow aren't they? Anyone who thinks differently is naive in my view.

    i think the recent pretty hate machine remaster was well needed and worthwhile... granted, at the volume i listen to most music the subtleties in the mix are usually lost :D

    a lot of stuff from the 80's and 90's just have a dated sound by today's recording standards... i actually like it on most stuff... but some albums could benefit from the treatment

    I think that the early pressings of cds in the 80s and 90s suffered from a subpar sound and am always glad to hear those albums remastered. However, you are correct that for many albums it is just a gadget to get money. Honestly though, I still have the original versions of vs and vitalogy so why not have new versions of them to listen to as well? I love the albums so much that I think it's really cool for the hardcore fan.

    as long as they're not fucking around with the dynamic range they can remaster as many as they want.

    but i disagree with some posts on here, cds from the 80s and 90s sound so much better than they do today.

    I think the alternative Ten 'reduxed' mix was a completely different kind of project to these latest remasters - it had some very distinctive studio production that the band wanted to alter. Not so for Vs. and Vitalogy.

    I fear what is being described in the review may be the effects of the much debated current trends in digital mixing and mastering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war

    Still, I will listen to these with an open mind
