well i made the last minute decision to go and did not regret it. great show, lukin into porch rocked. sometimes is brilliant, golden state with E.J is so good. the new song was interesting, he commented it was finished a week ago. good banter with the crowd. many dickheads yelling stupid stuff.
but all in all it was a very impressive night. Pro Surfer mick fanning and a few others were sitting in our row(4th) and andrew stockdale from wolfmother was in the front row.condescending and sarcastic since 19800 -

The best concert I've ever been too!!! I hope they sell these via the bootleg system.
The audience was really vocal and got into it. Eddie sounded great too. Everyone waited at the end hoping for another encore. MY mate and I didn't leave until we saw the gear being moved.Post edited by PJ Fan in BNE on0 -
Oh yeah. Got chills from that version of better man. Then when he finished there was a bit of quiet over the crowd, I think everyone was a little taken back by it, but one girl up the back yells out "that was beautiful Eddie" to which Ed humbly replies, "thank you, thats the type of feed back I need to hear in this first night of the tour"condescending and sarcastic since 19800

What a night. Seeing and hearing Ed in that venue in a completely different environment just reminds you how incredibly talented he is. Too many highlights to list. All the ITW stuff was brilliant. Lukin into Porch rocked. But for a Gen X'er like me it was hard to go past the heartfelt chat about the first tour with AIC and Mike's passing yesterday, then into Needle and the Damage Done. Gave me goosebumps.
Wish I could have afforded Sat and Sun tickets too. To those who are going, enjoy!! I know you will.
And RIP Mike S.0 -
so jealous of all you lucky folk... that setlist looks awesome... I wish I lived somewhere EV (or for that matter PJ) would play.... Maybe Austin on the anticipated US leg? Please? it's a 3 hour drive, but I'll do it... Never got to see him play solo... the bro saw him at Massey Hall and said it was amazing...
Enjoy aussie folks... i am so jealous...Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.0 -
Perfect, Ed.
I have to echo the sentiment of the comment after Betterman. Never before, have I felt the song as I did tonight. I don't want to single out just that one song though, because I felt a connection throughout the whole evening. I wasn't expecting such a, I suppose, personal delivery.
A pretty solid standing ovation for maybe 15 minutes after what we really knew was the last song. I think we, as a group, wanted to show our appretiation for what was truly a spectacular event.Post edited by AM248877 on0 -

Brisbane 06 (4th row...blew my mind), Brisbane 09 (stadium seating sucks), Brisbane Ed solo 2011 (2 shows...awesome!)0 -

Reading that gave me goosebumps. Very sad indeed, must have been tough for Ed too.Don't come closer or I'll have to go0 -
An excellent night out.
Mistakes... he made a few... but that is why you go to live shows. They led to some very interesting discussions, such as the argument between the left and right hemispheres of his brain as to whose fault it was. Ed pointed out that it was a bit like an argument between your kids, so he backed right out of it... until they teamed up and pointed out that it was ultimately his fault as he raised them.
Watching him trying to remember how Elderly Woman starts was funny to say the least. To be honest, I hope he makes just as many mistakes in the rest of the shows for you. The man is a bit of a comedian and it is nice to see another part of his personality.
Loved Sometimes and Brain Damage as they were a bit unexpected. I near wet myself when he did The Needle and the Damage Done (I should let you know that I am old enough to have enjoyed it first time around in '72). It was wonderful to hear Man of the Hour as it has particular significance for me.
Lukin was the same pace as always. However, Betterman was played at about half speed, and it is an awesome version. You could have heard a pin drop when he played it, and that is saying something. To die for.
Which brings me to my only gripe. There were a number of mindless, braying donkeys in the audience that were under the impression I paid money to listen to them yelling comments over the top of Ed. What is it with people these days? Ed dropped a few hints, but none of them seemed to work.
If you are thinking the show is going to be entirely "acoustic", it ain't. Ed gives the guitars a bit of a work out to say the least. Won't say anymore, except to say you are really going to enjoy it. Even more so if you can keep the donkeys out.0 -
gotta disagree with the complaints about people yelling out too much.
1. it would have been complete silence (awkward?) without those people
2. I definitely dont think the calling out was excessive
There were numerous times I could have said something and been clearly heard by Ed from the 4th row as I would have been the only one to be speaking at that time. i didnt though. and i do mean speaking with a raised voice, not yelling, as the crowd really were quiet!
If anything the most noise seemed to be coming from a section at the back of the floor maybe? which i think gave it a bit of atmosphere.
highlights for me were needle & damage done for starr, lukin/porch, and all the fuckups - even the last song hard sun had some funny moments. also, cant say ive seen a crowd stay put for so long after the last song in hope of another encore, even though the house lights & music were up lol0 -
