i thought it had to do with basketball, either way it's deliberate like i thought it was. my best friend got a lighter with the 23 on it, but it conflicted with the pick ed gave her that said EV in the same style so she thought it was a mistake or a misprint or something.
Oh and I absolutely LOVE this lighter more and more every day. At first when i saw the pics I was like "eh, whatever, I already have an EV Zippo" but after seeing it in person and buying it, it is just so cool. I LOVE IT

Besides being his birth "day" (December 23), you'll notice this number is highlighted on the actual CD of No Code, he's mentioned it on stage (refering to Michael Jordan's jersey number and the number of "minutes or so" in "Untitled"), it's also mentioned in Spanish in the lyrics to "Black Red Yellow," and he's even discussed it during the Saturday Night Live rehearsals in 1994. But the Number 23 itself is enough fodder for a whole TFT article of it's own sometime."
23 will only ever mean one thing to those of us born in the Chicagoland area and that is JORDAN!

shit! i am from Boston and you will be hard pressed to find a bigger Jordan fan than me!!! 99% of my closet is Jordan Brand and i own 30+ pair of Air Jordan's.
i was a fan waaayyyyy before he was winning championships!
i figured 23 had duel purpose for Ed.
at the end of the TB 2000 dvd there is some video of Ed backstage and he has an old school Jordan shirt on under a button up shirt that is unbuttoned.
