Your so wrapped up in Choice and your political bias that your not getting that any way you look at it, an embryo is the earliest stage of human life, there for it is a human.
Actually, no, it isn't. You're syllogism is faulty and does not follow the rules of classical logic. For instance, while some cats (A) are black (B), and some black things (B) are televisions (C), it does not follow from this that some cats (A) are televisions (C).
Do you understand that? I can draw you a picture if you like?

Awesome!
I think we should leave this to the ladies. It's no man's right to say how a woman should treat her body.
First... There isn't such thing as an "unwanted turtle pregnancy" and the mother won't be unable to care for her 50 babies since she just swims away and never sees them again.
Second... turtles are an endangered species because of humans... it's our duty to protect them. Humans... not so much.

What should punishment be Heidi? And are you willing to raise taxes to fund the needed welfare programs?
?

I have said it in other thread before, you don't need to raise taxes, simply deduct money from the welfare recipiant check when they have a child that they can not take care of (cloth/feed/shelter) use that money and put it into a foster care/adoption program that way you are giving children a family that wants them and you are using already existing funded money.

I never understand this statement. I think it is certainly a topic that everyone should be able to provide an opinion on. Unless of course, only female babies are being aborted...then I guess it's purely a female topic.

Everyone should be able to express their opinion and debate abortion but I believe, in the end, it is the woman's choice. She is the one with the most vested interest in this and suffers all the consequences (physical, emotional, financial, etc). Whilst I admit that the 'father' may also have some emotional interest, more often than not, in an unwanted pregnancy, he is nowhere to be seen, not even offering moral support.
Wow I've seen this thread go to some mighty weird places :?
arguing whether a human fetus ....
(not a jack off! not a turtle egg! not a pet!.... Really?)
is a human being, with hands and feet and toes and fingers and eyes and a brain
and a tiny heart beat ....
arguing whether it is life or not.
Why is it so hard to admit abortion is what is it?
It is legal..it is necessary
it is what is is.
It is legalized murder...it has been legal for 38 years. It's here to stay.
Women will not and should not give up the right to choose.
As I mentioned capitol punishment is also legalized murder.
Having been the only woman, I think, here to admit she has had an abortion,
my point in doing so was to say, I made the wrong decision.
I realize the need... women need to have the choice, we do not all think alike. We need to be safe when terminating a fetus and not all women are in a position to be able to sacrifice to give life.
I thought I needed to have an abortion. It was the easy solution... I thought at age 16.....
fly to New York, boom done problem solved in a matter of a day.
I didn't realize for me it would be a lifetime of guilt. Which set in immediately....
an empty horrible feeling.
I could have been unselfish, given 9 months of life of give life. Given my baby up for adoption
to a couple who needed a child to love. Given life to a person who needed life.
My point is that the real tragedy is the logical thought behind abortion instead of thinking with your heart.
This is easy to do because it doesn't hurt. It is easy to be selfish.
Our choices in life should be decided with our hearts, most especially regarding human life,
in my opinion.
Good post...several of your references I've been there and sadly I've experienced them.

thank you for your support, g under p.... I can see you understand.
I'm sorry you had to experience this too.

Same exact situation just in college and it was completely out of my hands. Let's see that was almost 30 years ago and I wonder why I changed my life and worked so diligently with pre-school children/teens for so many years now I'm on the the other end of the spectrum... caring for the elderly.
The other experience is a whole other story... :(

Having a law preventing people from destroying a turtle's eggs is completely different from having a law preventing a turtle from destroying its own eggs. The latter, not the former, is more analogous to abortion.
My point is that a human embryo is a developing human at the earliest stage. I find it odd that we have laws protecting sea turtle eggs yet not protecting developing humans.
Why should we have laws protecting a turtles eggs since the egg is not a turtle???
For the same reason we DO have the SAME laws for humans - keep your hands off SOMEONE ELSE'S eggs/embryos.

Why??? I don't understand the hate around here for me, I may have harsh views on welfare people but that is because from my experience the system is abused beyone belief. Personal responsibility seems to be a foreign term around here. Its not the Gov. job to provide for you/your children. If you make it the gov. job then they should also be allow to put regulations and restrictions. I have a great love for humanity hence why I want people to be responsible especially then the gov. is providing your food/clothes/shelter, because the only people that suffer are children, and thats unacceptable to me.

isn't deducting the money from the welfare recipient defeating the purpose of public aid and welfare? if you give them some money yet deduct from the menial sum that they receive, you are just perpetuating the poverty problem...

Isn't giving more money to the welfare recipient when they have another child defeat the purpose of welfare? Its supposed to be public aid/help not income to raise your future family. It should be used as a steping stone/building block to get your life back on track. I have no issue with a system like. Letting people continually have children while be supported by the gov. is only perpetuating the poverty problem.
I really don’t understand why/how anyone can be so against welfare and be anti-abortion at the same time..
Its like some people just want to take away some conveniences to see some poor people suffer.
Heidi, I see where you’re going with the turtle egg thing, but it just has too many holes. We see your point, its just not a good analogy.
I believe that a woman should have the choice to abort a fetus up until the time it can live outside her womb on its own. Before that, I see it as an extension of her body. It cannot live without her = her choice.
The turtle eggs are “on their own”. They are not inside the mother still.. Some might hatch, some might not. We are attempting to prevent extinction and help the ecosystems thrive.
Personally, I don’t like abortion when used mainly as a contraception. But I feel it is necessary. We are coded to fuck. But if abortion were to become illegal, we’d see a shitload of back alley coat-hanger services and a rise in young/poor/single mothers. Bad outcome.
My question must have gotten lost in all of the focus on turtle eggs...
AGAIN...
Heidi... please, what is your stance on abortion in China, India and Africa?
Do you oppose abortion in China, india and Africa? (y/n/)

Thank you.

Heidi, you are clearly crazy and not here to share a discussion - seems to me you want everyone to follow your thought process or you will say they are wrong.
You are obviously anti abortion. Cant you just say that and be done?
Life is just not that simple.

dude please, we all know that the sentence in large font is a load of crap and a lie. you are on here all of the time expressing your contempt for not only the welfare system, but a large number of the welfare recipients themselves. you are not fooling anyone with this post.
how can you be anti abortion and anti welfare at the same time? it makes no sense.
