Eddie Vedder Singing on New R.E.M. Song

Here's a preview of Eddie Vedder's collaboration with R.E.M. on their new album Collapse Into Now. The song is called "It Happened Today". Vedder is doing backup harmonies in the second half of the song. He has no lines, just "arc" type vocals. Enjoy.

    Just dont understand why REM would get a chance to work with him, and then limit his talents and inclusion to a very limited background vocal to a song.
    Just seems like an extreme waste of opportunity to me.
    If anyone heard that song without seeing that Vedder was credited on that song, you would never know he was singing on it.

    I think it's great! It is an R.E.M. song after all, not R.E.M. FEATURING E.V. I'll bet that both R.E.M and E.V. were thrilled with this result!

    This was such a wasted opportunity. This could have been one of the greatest songs in rock history yet they make it a joke. I guess you have to be a rapper or Patti Smith to get actual guest vocals on an R.E.M. song.
