words to another song of his....

"The Stroke "

Now everybody have you heard
If you're in the game, then the strokes the word
Dont take no rhythm, dont take no style
Got a thirst for killin, grab your vial and ...

Put your right hand out, give a firm hand-shake
Talk to me about that one big break...
Spread your ear-pollution both far and wide...
Keep your contributions by your side and stroke me, stroke me
Could be a winner boy, you move quite well...
Stroke me, stroke me...
Stroke me, stroke me...
You got your number down...
Stroke me, stroke me...
Stroke me, stroke me...
Say youre a winner but man youre just a sinner now

Put your left foot out keep it all in place...
Work your way right into my face
First you try to bed me you make my backbone slide
But when you found you bled me, skip on by... keep on
stroke me, stroke me
Give me the business all night long
Stroke me, stroke me (stroke)
Stroke me, stroke me
Youre so together boy...
Stroke me, stroke me
Say youre a winner but man youre just a sinner now

Stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke, stroke

Better listen now said it aint no joke
Let your conscience fail ya, just do the stroke
Dontcha take no chances keep your eye on top
Do your fancy dances you cant stop you just stroke me, stroke me

Stroke, stroke

Stroke me, stroke me

Stroke, stroke

Stroke me, stroke me

Stroke, stroke

Stroke me, stroke me

Stroke

Do it.

Stroke me, stroke me.

Stroke

Christmas Is the Time to say I Love You is one of my favorite Christmas songs. It's almost as awesome as PJ's version of Someday At Christmas.

Billy Squire also suffered from the "I want to be Robert Plant" syndrome that David Coverdale (from Whitesnake) and many other rock singers (if you could call David Coverdale a rock singer) suffered from until everyone wanted to be Eddie Vedder.

That song is truly awful. It is almost as bad as Steve Miller Band's Abracadabra.

Fine, since nobody else stepped up to be the Billy Squier apologist, I'll do it. There's no arguing that the video for "Rock Me Tonite" was an awful career move. But Billy had done pretty well for himself up to that point. The dude was headlining arenas. (Nevermind that his opening acts often blew him out of the water).

Billy had quite a few hits and a few genuinely good songs in the early 80s, though you may not want to admit it.
    The Stroke
    Everybody Wants You
    In The Dark
    Lonely is the Night
    My Kinda Lover

So feel free to shit on that video. It's awful and deserving of mockery. But Billy definitely had a career to ruin.

I'm going to go listen to In The Dark on youtube.
It is time to admit that we used to rock like hurricanes. It is time to run for the hills and go round and round. It is time for us to shout at the devil. We've got the right to choose it, there ain't no way we'll lose it, and we're not gonna take it anymore.

In the dark is a good idea. The song is not bad, but his moves are.
