Been listening to this show for the last 3 days non-stop.

Perfect set list. Just as much a No Code show as it is a Yield show.

If you haven't heard, check it out.

If you have heard, listen again.

07/22/98 - Memorial Stadium: Seattle, WA [120m]

attendance: 25,000

support act: The Wallflowers and Sean Lennon

set: Throw Your Arms Around Me [Ed solo pre Sean Lennon];

Last Exit, Animal, Spin the Black Circle, Brain of J, Faithfull, Red Mosquito, Given to Fly, MFC, Habit, Not for You, Daughter/(Beginning to See the Light), Even Flow, Off He Goes, Better Man, Lukin, Present Tense, Mankind, Alive, Corduroy, Hail Hail, Do the Evolution, Porch

enc 1: Wishlist, Leatherman, Leaving Here, Fuckin' Up

enc 2: Yellow Ledbetter

notes: The band absolutely stands and delivers for this final show of the West Leg of the 1998 tour, and the crowd does likewise. Ed surprises the audience by walking onstage, Rickenbacker in hand, and graces the crowd with an incredible rendition of 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' before Sean Lennon's set. He also introduces the Wallflowers, bopping onstage to 'Emotional Rescue,' the Wallflowers' pre-show music. Later, he greets the crowd: "Are you the same fucks from yesterday? Ya look damn familiar ... actually I think you're better ... so far." Killer versions of 'Faithfull,' 'Do The Evolution' and 'Porch' are highlights. Ed dedicates 'GTF' to "the birds and people that think like them." Stone speaks: "We're gonna kick it up a notch -- with me!" as they go into a great 'Mankind.' Ed starts off the encore by informing everyone that "the Hanson concert hasn't let out yet so we're just gonna keep playing ..." and later says, "I'd like to thank god for the weather but I don't believe in him." Tonight's special guest: airborne Mister Pickles! 'Yellow Ledbetter' again, including the Hendrix riff plus a bit of 'The Star Spangled Banner.' We'll miss you, guys. See you in August.

    Thanks. You just helped explain something that's puzzled me for awhile. You said Ed played "Throw Your Arms Around Me" as the pre-opener. The web site says different. It says he did "Throw Your Arms Around Me" at the July 21, 1998 show (also at Memorial Stadium in Seattle) and did not do a pre-opener on July 22nd. However, I was at the July 21st show, and he did NOT do a pre-opener (I was there well before the first opening act), so I believe the web site is in error and attributes the "Throw Your Arms Around Me" pre-opener on the wrong date. It should be July 22, 1998, not July 21, 1998. By the way, the July 21st show was tremendous.

    You should contact the 10C so they can correct the error.

    If you go under setlists, and click 'about the setlists', you'll see they actually encourage people who were at the shows to e-mail them with any errors.

    If they played this venue again, I would go for sure. Right by the Space Needle downtown. Old, rickety outdoor stadium...awesome!
    No longer overwhelmed it seems so simple now.
