for the record, the vp of ops said if they end up not filing for bk, then the show is most likely on...either last weekend of august or labor day weekend. we will probably know for sure within the next couple weeks.

Don't listen to any of this. These guys are just stirring things up. It's all based on rumor and speculation. Nobody here represents the band or management for that manner, so just relax, wait for the annoucement and things will be fine. Nobody will miss out on anything that they don't want to make happen no matterthe circumstances.

I don't believe that the VP of Operations would say much involving the word bankruptcy to any member of the public, unless you were someone very well-trusted. And if you were, in fact, someone very well-trusted, I would imagine you wouldn't be talking about your friend's company's potential bankruptcy on a public forum, knowing full well you would lose your source for the future, and your credibility with your friend in the business.

An old friend of our family owns a hardware store in Milwaukee. I think his son is now some big time Hollywood director.

(sorry, I can't resist the old tv references!)

  • with GREAT respect I have to consider, after Roskilde will there really be a Festival for 2 days... didn't Jeff say that a small tour is happening? I am sure I read that - Alpine Valley sounds like yes for a show but a festival?? that's lots of vendors for food and gear, lots of space for campers... and just think of the portyjohn issue, even if it holds 35,000 is that really space for everyone to attend - I'm just not feeling it

yet I am not a gambling man cause I always loose and bet your ass I'll be there if it goes down

That's not what he told Rolling Stone: http://www.twofeetthick.com/2011/01/jeff-ament-talks-juicy-pj20-details/

Not saying it's for sure going to be Alpine Valley but at this point if they don't have a festival there are going to be a lot of disappointed fans.

Alpine Valley is the an amazing place. I was at the '03 show. I've seen Radiohead there once and DMB 4 times. Also saw Deftones there too. Always have an amazing time.

I think the reason why its so awesome is because its in the middle of effin nowhere but still in the thick of things ( an hour from CHI, Madison and Milwakee). Its 40,000 people and 50,000 in the parking lot before the show. The people in the Midwest are chill and the sound in the venue is spectacular.

The qustion, whats so great about AlPine VaLLY? is really tough to answer. Its kind of like asking someone why they like to look at the stars.

Alpine is not quite the middle of nowhere 45 minutes from several mid- large towns is borderline suburban in the Midwest urban sprawl

the Gorge, now that is the middle of nowhere.........
