    A little about Alpine Valley.

Pearl Jam should avoid this venue, especially for a festival outing. We know that they love this venue as do other top bands, and we fully respect that.

My significant other and I went to the Rage Against the Machine concert on August 24, 2007 with 37,000+ fans in attendance (awesome concert by the way), and let me tell you, it will be the last time we ever go to Alpine Valley.

A major storm came through the area, and all hell broke loose. The Alpine Valley staff was overwhelmed, people running everywhere - TOTAL CHAOS!!!! Fortunately, the weather cleared up, and the show was off the hook, and according to the staffers, the most intense show Alpine Valley ever had there.

People were pulling the industrial-stapled down chairs off the floor and began throwing them around. We saw this from the VIP section we were in during the show.

If you ask me, pray that PJ does not go to this venue, as it is not for everyone. Especially for people with disabilities, please beware. :(

My girlfriend and I love to travel to Pearl Jam shows all around the country, but we will not subject ourselves again to what happened at Alpine Valley in 2007.

Last note: The Rage show, with QOTSA opening was one of the best shows we had ever seen. The Alpine Valley staff as a whole - not good.

i'd like to think that the PJ crowd would be better behaved than that. i wouldn't base my decision to go or not on what happened at a show in 2007 with a completely different crowd

I can't agree with any of that. Alpine is great.

I do remember the mud-throwing from the lawn to the seats though and that was scary.

My girlfriend is in a wheelchair, and we only go to venues that have very good handicapped seating. Alpine Valley is not one of those places, and we learned that the hard way.

The people there said that they had great wheelchair accessible seating. They did not, not by a long shot. We were down in the resort area, in the pouring rain, they were putting people who were in wheelchairs onto these golf carts; we refused to do so. They allowed me to drive up behind the stage where I was able to get my girlfriend out safely.

When we got to our seats, there were no seats to be had, and they were in front of these gigantic speakers. As I said in my last post; the venue is not for people with disabilities.

We were very fortunate to have purchased additionally the VIP tickets we'd purchased along with the tickets, which had great an awesome handicapped section. And the staff in that section of the venue was awesome as well. They helped me get my girlfriend to the car through the mud. Major kudos go out to that faction of the Alpine Valley staff. :)

I pushed my girlfriend all the way up the slippery vertical cliff to get to the VIP section, without a slip fortunately. At that point, it had become a very dangerous situation. To this day I still don't know how we got up that slippery cliff to the VIP section up the hill without slipping (it could have been a potentially huge disaster.)

We waited for everyone to clear out, except the staff cleaning up for the Dave Matthews Band the following night. The staff there had their hands full cleaning up. We saw that firsthand.

Alpine Valley ranks next to last when it comes to venues that have handicapped seating. We saved last place for the old Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ.

I was also at this show and there is no way Alpine would ever allow this to happen again! First off, more then 25,000 people were late getting into the show (me one of them) and were very pissed off and ready to throw down. second, pearl jam's crowd is very different from a rage against the machine crowd (even my group were more heavy/hard core music fans and would never go to a pearl jam show) unless someone has time warped into the future from 1993. and third, IT WAS RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE! Alpine is an awesome venue and i have been to may shows that never came close to the shit that hit the fan the night Rage played. I hope to god these rumors are true and pearl jam plays at Alpine... it's due! Patrickredeyes will agree with me on this!
Do you know what it's like to fall in the mud and get kicked... in the head... with an iron boot? Of course you don't, no one does. It never happens. Sorry, Ted, that's a dumb question... skip that.
  • Rage fans also ripped out seats at the Spectrum when I saw them there. I was never happier to be in the 2nd level in my life. All I saw were chairs flying everywhere. I think Rage brings out rage in their fans.

yeah, floor was GA. all the seats were removed ahead of time. going in, I thought it would be cool to be in the pit for rage, but once i saw it, I was glad i got "screwed" with seats dead center about ten rows up :D

as for the mud, i did get pelted in the head with a mud ball on my way to my seat. oh well. shit happens. was a great show!

I've been to 1 rage show in my life and I thought I was going to die and i'm a big dude. Its a totally different vibe and crowd. I've never been to Apline and have no ties to it but they have plenty of shows every year in the summer. I'm sure they can handle it just fine.

I had the same experience... I was seriously worried for my wife's safety. We were at the front of the lawn right behind a drop to the concourse for the seated area. We were fearful that we would get shoved over the edge. Luckily, the security guy let us down onto the concourse. We stood behind the seated area below the lawn for the whole show. We had a great time but that lawn was a dangerous place that night.

There were definitely chairs torn from the ground. The crowd surfing chairs from that evening were very memorable. The best part of that evening was the fact we left that place a mess for the POS DMB fans the next two nights.

When we saw the chairs being pulled; we said holy shit, we are definitely at a RATM concert!!!!

The concert was a once in a lifetime show, despite everything we went through prior to the concert.

Unfortunately, my lady never wants to go back to East Troy ever again, and neither do I. :(

We sense that Pearl Jam will be doing some more shows this year after listening to Matt & Jeff on the AET today on XM radio. Hopefully they will come to the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, because its a hopping new venue in our hometown.

One is county road D and the other is highway D. Big difference in Wisconsin. I think the W2699 CR-D is an address for emergency services...so they can find the place. The delivery address would be different from the main gate address.

As for the different town names, small towns tend to overlap and misc. roads tend to be dividing lines for addresses.

Either one will get you where you need to go!

Alpine Valley is the an amazing place. I was at the '03 show. I've seen Radiohead there once and DMB 4 times. Also saw Deftones there too. Always have an amazing time.

I think the reason why its so awesome is because its in the middle of effin nowhere but still in the thick of things ( an hour from CHI, Madison and Milwakee). Its 40,000 people and 50,000 in the parking lot before the show. The people in the Midwest are chill and the sound in the venue is spectacular.

The qustion, whats so great about AlPine VaLLY? is really tough to answer. Its kind of like asking someone why they like to look at the stars.

i agree this venue is cool, i went to the last summer show there, not the ice bowl one. but i dont think this is a good venue for a festival 3 or 4 day event. mainly because its in the middle of nowhere, and unless they will allow camping in the parking lot for multiple days. its a real bitch to get hotels in the area, when i went there for the last summer show. i stayed about 30 minutes outside of milwaukee and then drove to east troy. then after the show, we bolted for ohio, cause pj was going there next, and the hotels in the area are way over priced, its like a golf resort area in teh summer? we found a hotel in illinois for 1/3 of the price.
but thats my point, this is a cool venue for a 1 and done show, but a festival? it is a total nightmare, fucked up traffic, too much driving every day unless they will allow camping, and over priced hotels

I WAS HOPING SINCE EDDIE HAS TIES TO CHICAGO, THAT THEY WOULD PLAY WRIGLEY FIELD IN CHICAGO INSTEAD, THAT SOUNDS MUCH MORE REASONABLE IF THEY WANT TO PLAY SOMEWHERE 3 OR 4 DAYS, THEY JUST GOTTA DO IT WHEN THE CUBS ARE ON A ROAD TRIP. and i thought eddie would get a hard on from playing a whole show at that venue????????
  • also labor day weekend in that alpine valley, is probably a hotel nightmare waiting to happen, im actually surpised they want to do a festival thing labor day weekend, instead of 4th of july would make more sense no?

    come to WRIGLEY FIELD
