The only problem I have with your post is that there are businesses out there that do legitimately care about the customer's experience. Relegating the 10 Club's practices as being "just business" is not a plausible excuse for the lack of concern and sometimes utter contempt they show towards their fan club members.
yah the whole "its just business" thing is laughable

whats laughable as that you people continue to throw money into somethig you don't agree with or believe in and still have the nerve to come on here and bitch as if it will make one bit of difference.

hey, i'm in the club for the priority seating... complaining about everything else is just a nice bonus

makes for a welcome escape from facebook, online dating, and obsessive ebay shopping too

I think part of my problem is, I am a member of the Metallica Fan Club and the band and employees are so good to their customers and fans. It's like night and day in every single facet of their operation. If I didn't experience how good it could be, I might not be as critical of the Ten Club but at this point, it's pretty clear they are nothing more than a business. I won't even bother posting my exchange with them earlier regarding the Backspacer downloads but it was of very very minimal words on their end and basically a "Stay tuned" twice. We have been staying tuned for 16 months now.

They are going to get bit in the ass if they keep taking us for granted. Shows wouldn't sell out without us.
  • dunno whether to laugh or cry ....
lack of concern and sometimes utter contempt they show towards their fan club members.

lol at you drama queens...what do you do when something that is actually bad happens?
have never had any issues w/ ten club. Always been good to me and always got priority seating for every show I've wanted but....

NO, you are in the majority... not the few whiney little bitches that complain about any change or issue.

It's called hyperbole dude. Also, the 10 Club in the last 5 or so years have ruffled more than just a "few" feathers.

I just remember that I used to feel like this was the greatest fan club in the world. I don't know if I was romanticizing or if it was the naivete of my youth. However, I really used to feel like you couldn't come within a 10 foot pole of the 10 Club. Now, it just seems like the 10 Club is streets behind other fan clubs and maybe most importantly, its former self. I think myself and many others just want to get back the feeling(s) that we used to have when this club was being run differently.

Like I say I'm not a fan, but I think a little perspective needs applying at times...

What does my opinion on a t-shirt have to do with starving children anywhere?

I'm in the minority maybe -- have never had any issues w/ ten club. Always been good to me and always got priority seating for every show I've wanted but.....

what a lousy design. I'll be wearing that one to bed, and that's about it.

Same feeling here. Nothing wrong with the 10 Club other than letting this design win out. I thought this was a limited edition 10 Club shirt. Are we now the Analog club?
It was previously the Vitalogy Health Club... Not sure what it was before that.

Anyway i'm pretty sure the cost of memberships went up, due to vinyl production... The t-shirt is a bonus in disguise as something else... I am yet to see the actual design... someone post a pic that isn't image shack, or any of those photo sites... I cannot view them.

Like someone already pointed out, your point about children in Africa has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion at hand.

And this is kind of a big deal. Our membership doubling in price is an issue. What you receive for paying more money is quite simply sad. The way the 10 club has handled this situation has been abhorrent. We all want the 10 club to be better. How will it ever be better if we don't discuss the ways it can improve and make mention of the ways it has let us down?

By the way, didn't you know that the official holiday of the 10 club is festivus. We like to air our grievances and inform one another of the various ways we have been disappointed. We just happen to celebrate this holiday much more than once a year. However, maybe we should set up a Festivus day so that one day a year we get out all of our grievances, the 10 club lets out theirs and then we all move on.

I think it has EVERYTHING to do with the internet and how readily available everything is these days...

when analog 10C truly meant analog 10C everything you got in the mail from them must've been awesome (I'm only guessing cause i'm too young to know from experience)

nowadays we know every other fan club member's every thought, we can buy any PJ related item we want with one click, and literally nothing is worth waiting for

I'm as guilty as anyone... but its interesting to think about... honestly 10C is up against some impossible/impractical nostalgia

You raise a good point. I am though only 28 years old (a relatively young Pearl Jam fan, I guess). I joined when it was The Vitalogy Health Club for 5.00. For 5.00 you got an awesome vinyl sometime after the new year, the opportunity for concert tix with seating or admission advantages and every now and then some cool newsletters.

Times certainly have changed. My question/concern is how has the 10 Club changed? They could move into a more current business model that takes advantage of the internet, social media, digital downloads (FLAC namely) etc... but they don't. They still offer that same thing, albeit now with an ugly t-shirt for 8X the price. In fact, prior to I think the 05' Canada tour many many more fan club members were sold tix to PJ shows. The chances to get 10 club seats has certainly diminished.

The 10 club seems to have 21st century pricing and "ideals" in mind while still offering services and innovation from the 20th century.

It must be pretty hard in today's world to be ahead or on top of EVERYTHING... I mean previously, this t-shirt would have gone out and no one would have known that others thought it was shit. I cannot judge yet as I haven't seen it...

Anyway this fanclub has previously been awesome. Now the sheer numbers of people in it need to be catered for. (This MUST be why seniority means dick sometimes).

I'm pretty sure this website is all still typed out on a typewriter and sent to India for Digitizing...
In saying this, I'd believe the 10Club staff are all wearing their "I'm ANALOG" t-shirts...

It is extremely difficult to be on top of everything. But this t-shirt was designed for the guy who still wears a braided belt and a kangol.
Note: In this scenario it is not being done to be ironic. Which somehow makes it less offensive but even more disappointing.

Oh my, it's about perspective, you get that right?

It's a flaming t shirt and some people are getting a little too upset about it.

You seem a real fun guy ...

Believe me I do my bit... Popping to one of your events may be a touch tricky as I'm in the UK but honestly I'm not sure I could deal with your constant negativity anyway .... You have got yourself amazingly flustered about a t shirt

I am a actually board member of this organization. We are in the process of becoming an official Non Profit Organization right now. Maybe you can come to one of our 6k's in the future or one of our other events. That way you can actually help out with the situation instead of comparing the problem to a t-shirt.

You ever get a gift from a family member and your name is spelled wrong on the card? It's like the thought was there and you should be grateful, but on the other hand...hmm.

They are going to get bit in the ass if they keep taking us for granted. Shows wouldn't sell out without us.
unless they are in new york or boston, chances are the show isn't a sellout
  • usamamasan1usamamasan1 Posts: 4,695
sellout shows are by no means always the most profitable. For example, sell 10,000 tickets at $70 or 9,000 at $80? I understand concessions are to be accounted for, just saying. If a show sells out, it was priced too low,

But they won't play 9000 seat venues....just ask anyone in the south. $eems as though if they can't come close to filling an arena, they want no part$ of playing your area. If they are hellbent on playing arenas, their only real guaranteed sellouts are in the cities gndcd402 listed (as well as Philly, Toronto, Chicago). So back to my point....people here are the reason any of these shows sell. Piss enough of us off and they will be playing state fairs next to Kid Rock and Styx in 5 years.
