What Show Would You Recommend?

I know there've been topics on this before, but I did search and couldn't find any buried in the 10+ pages of results that came back, soooo ...

If you could recommend just ONE show for someone* to listen to, what would it be, and why?

* someone who used to enjoy PJ, but hasn't listened to them in about 10 years.

thats crazy, to me all their shows sound incredible. BUt then to me id pick an obscure setlist as i prefer those songs to the more hit types ones, like i would pick a set with wash as the opener but in fact for him, id pick a set with release. I guess you want a set with a few classics in as well. I think one of the MSG's of this year could be good.

This is why I'm having such a hard time with it! He asked and I'm like 'uhmmmm ... can I just give you this stack of boots?'.

    hahah yeah

thing is, it doesn't help they play 99 different songs each night either. So many setlists are different so like you said its hard to pick!

I was trading some bootlegs the other day and after looking at my list he asked me to send him 7 discs of what I consider "essential Pearl Jam live". Here's what I went with:

    4/3/94
    9/11/98
    5/3/03

Granted, that was more because of the number of discs I was limited to, but I'd be interested to see what others think of as "essential." I tried to narrow it down to 10 shows so I also considered 10/3/05, 4/12/94, 5/13/93, 8/24/00, 10/22/00, 11/7/96, and 6/20/95.
    9/24, 9/28/96,8/28, 8/29, 9/10, 9/18, 9/19/98
    8/24, 8/25, 9/1, 9/2, 9/4, 9/5, 10/11/00
    4/19, 4/25, 4/26, 4/28, 5/3, 7/5, 7/6, 7/12, 7/14/03
    10/1/04, 9/28, 10/3/05
    5/27, 5/28, 6/1, 6/3/06
    6/19, 6/20, 6/22, 6/24, 6/25/08
    8/28, 10/27, 10/28, 10/30, 10/31/09
    5/6, 5/18/10

Well, I didn't use the words "epic" "memorial" or "unforgettable" in my search. I went basic with stuff like "show" and "recommend". ;)

Thank you for this! It's a big help.

And thanks to everyone who's replied to my query with a show (or two) recommendation.

The search feature blows. Don't let anyone bring you down.

I think Roo was more about the experience. If you were there, it was special no doubt. But the boot is sub par IMO. I wouldn't recommend it to someone lookng for one show to listen to from just the 08 tour. The boot is VERY sloppy.
You know, people keep saying this- I own the boot and love it. I don't see anything wrong with it.

East Troy 10-08-2000, The Ice Bowl, they were so incredibly on that night. Great energy and setlist.

I'm a big fan of the Gorge box set. Recording quality fantastic, and Eddie was in top form each of the shows. Haven't finished taking in the MSG 2008 shows yet but those may eventually top the Gorge only because I was at the MSG shows.

I liked the Bonnaroo boot enough, but I agree with some others that the mix sounded weird and Eddie was a little sloppy, however I can see how this would be special for those who went to the show.
