Nice! For a second, I thought this might be some kind of anti-mother nature thread and I was preparing to rip that flimsy proboscis right off your little mozzie face!
I’m all better now…

HA!!! Probosics- I had to look that up!!!0 -
Great photos. Volcanoes, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes... they make us realise just how insignificant we are.0

 I am pretty sure man caused that... Its called Climate Change...nuffingman wrote:Great photos. Volcanoes, floods, tsunamis, earthquakes... they make us realise just how insignificant we are.0 -
Isn't that your answer for every natural disaster??? MAN, MAN, MAN... No god is not responsible for anything, I don't see what that has to do with anything. But you do know these kinds of disasters were happening before man ever stepped foot on this earth, don't you???polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote::roll: I am pretty sure man caused that... i guess god is responsible for everything ... volcanoes, earthquakes, flooding ... man can't possibly have any influence ... :?0 -

soo ... because there was a flood before there was man - man cannot influence the occurence of floods ...
is that your understanding?0 -
Nope, your the one linking every natural disaster to man with out any proof. Show me one disaster that has been linked directly to man.polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote:Isn't that your answer for every natural disaster??? MAN, MAN, MAN... Man is better at preventing floods through civil engineering projects. There is documentation to support that.polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote:Isn't that your answer for every natural disaster??? As for influencing floods, I think COBRA tried this once but they ended up getting stopped by the Joe's.Be Excellent To Each OtherParty On, Dudes!0 -

first of all - i've never linked every disaster to man ... the fact you think i have is a clear indication that you have not really been reading the words i type ...
again - i ask ... do you believe that man cannot contribute to natural disasters either through cause or impact? ... what is your assertation if you mock the notion that global warming could have caused some events? ...
what is your point in saying there were natural disasters before man other than to say that man can not influence disasters?0 -

man is also responsible for the catostrophic consequences of flooding by building in flood plains, destroying natural barriers like mangroves and impacting existing watersheds ...
i guess ultimately, we are talking about excessive rainfalls ... sure, if all the water from such a rainfall could be diverted - we wouldn't have floods ... but that is not necessarily reasonable everywhere in the world ...0 -
Man's actions today, I do not think that they can cause/contribute to natural disasters today, Now in years and years to come yes/possibly. But I don't think todays weather patterns and disasters have anything to do with man. Future, yes I can see the contribution. I mock AGW because after every single event that a disaster someone links it to humans... I think we are a long ways from that. Hell that volcano eruption has probably produced more toxin to the enviroment then we ever have. My point of saying that about natural disasters was because i have seen some on here (maybe you, or not, I can't remember) think that when an event like this happens that its due to human activity. Natural disasters have happend before us, and will happen after us, we may contribute alot, a little, but we certinly can NOT stop natural disasters like this volcano that harm the enviroment.polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote:Nope, your the one linking every natural disaster to man with out any proof. ok ... in the first sentence you say that you don't think we can cause/contribute to natural disasters and in the last you say we may contribute alot or a little ... which is it?
would you say drought is a natural disaster?0 -
Try reading all the words. In the first sentence i said mans actions today, I do not think that they can cause/contribute to natural disasters today. Meaning the weather we are having today, snow/rain ect, I don't think we are having an effect on that, but weather in the future, yes/possibly.polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote:Man's actions today, I do not think that they can cause/contribute to natural disasters today, Now in years and years to come yes/possibly. then what does this mean? ... we are talking natural disasters ... just as you wrote ...

I guess so, i would think the only things with droughts are is you never really know how bad they will be. Since they are dependant on rainfall.polaris_x wrote:HeidiJam wrote:Try reading all the words. read up on the causes of drought ...
you will see that deforestation, over-farming, over-development are causes of drought ... not the only ones but can and have contributed and/or exascerbated the effects of drought ... consider the Gobi desert - a desert that is considered to be man-made ... a desert is essentially an environment that is in drought ...
so ... my point is man CAN cause natural disasters ... our influence of nature is impactful and consequential ...0 -
I just wanted to post some cool pictures of a Volcano.
I have debated with polaris_x and I respect his/her opinion (which one is it BTW). Polais_x is a feisty one so watch out!!!
