Eli did a good job, but he's really got to work on lowering his interceptions.

The Giants' worst enemy was themselves this season. Turnovers did them in.

the most important part of football.

But the takeaways pretty much evens that up. Well close to even so that wasn't a factor. It's the defense allowing points on those turnovers

well that's why they have the take away/give away stat (the one i always talk about as i feel its the most important stat in the game): http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/ ... league/nfc

the giants are among the worst in the league. c'mon man!

No one's defending turnovers. But it's how they came about. Receivers not running the right routes. Receivers not handling easy throws. A true interception for me is when the qb throws it to a wide open defender.

If you see in a baseball boxscore a batter going 4-4. You'd think he smoked the ball all 4 times. But when you see the highlights. You see one his was a weak grounder to 3rd. Another was a bloop hit. The 3rd took a bad hop. And the 4th was a 12 hopper that found a hole between the two infielders.

haha...this is the same exact conversation we had last week. i thought the conversation ended when i pointed out that in all but one season he has turned the ball over at an alarming rate. these damn receivers have not been running their routes right since 2004!

You're not getting the point. I'm not saying he isn't responsible for all of the interceptions. Just that it's not all black and white.

Mara just said Coughlin is staying. But who knows in 2 or 3 months. I would like a new OC. Gilbride has gotten better. But I feel something is missing.

That's his pose when he's pissed and has his hands on his hips.

My dad and I were talking during the game and we said the same thing; we think the only time we've seen him smile was the Super Bowl.

10 - 6 and we missed the playoffs?!?!
    and a 7 - 9 team made it... :?
    something is wrong here...

I wanted Coughlin to be fired after this season's meltdown, but realising that we were 10 - 6 does justify his staying.

On a side note... Giants = 10 wins, Devils = 10 wins

  • Overall this was a very disappointing season. In my opinion, they achieved 10 wins on pure individual talent alone. As a team, they never had it together. They never seemed to play inspired football with a sense of purpose. There hasn't been a true cohesive leader since Strahan left.
Obviously the interceptions, fumbles and WR injuries were the biggest problem but I also happen to think these particular players had very poor seasons and the areas should be addressed in the off-season:

Michael Boley -- never made big plays. Except for the knockout hit on Romo, you never heard his name.
Kenny Phillips -- expected big things out of him. An unbelievable amount of big plays over the middle. Especially the past 4 games. Never heard his name making plays much either.
OC Coordinator Gilbride -- play calling is always so conservative and bland. Never any big play attempts.
Kevin Boss -- quietly had a lot of dropped passes. Is too often banged up. Was very surprised and disappointed in him this year. Don't have faith he is a true #1 TE.
All Special Teams -- the special teams coach should be fired immediately. The ST have been horrible for years now. Obviously its a huge part of the game and can cost you games as we saw.
Finally --- If I saw one more defensive play (usually on 3rd down) where Tuck or another D-Lineman dropped back into pass coverage I was going to go crazy. Makes zero sense. A DT was covering Fred Davis yesterday when he scored. A DT!!!!

Many former Giants -- Carson, Strahan, Simms, etc --- were quoted throughout the season saying the team played with little or no pride. Team needs to regain an attitude in the now very long off-season
