Nevermind, without a doubt in my mind. I personally feel the songs are stronger, more striking. I also feel In Utero is better than Ten and Vs. However, with Vitalogy Pearl Jam put out something superior to either band's output before (or since, I feel). It's interesting to listen to Vitalogy; I think you can hear the impact that Nirvana's more apparent punk leanings had on Eddie when he was writing on that album.0

Ten BY MILES.
(Even though I'm a huge Nirvana fan)0 -

ten's production has rendered it a period piece. nevermind still sounds as vital and as fresh as it did back when i first heard it..
drain you is the best songg on there, for mine.
You nailed it...this is why Nirvana still resounds even to the newer generation of young'uns. It just never loses its intensity and influence.0 -

As much as I like Ten, I agree with you, and I'll take it further, Nevermind is a masterpiece.0 -
Ten all the way! Both are great albums but I have to say Ten is better, one of the best of all time in my opinion!0

like one said before: "It's easily 'Ten' for me. I was never much of a Nirvana girl." i always wonder how it could be, that Nirvana was so popular, i have never understood it. Their music is so dark, and... boring, sometimes i think that they couldn't make music, they were so untalented... maybe i'm not just, but that's how i feel.
Sure, You ask PJ fans, so probably the answer is clear, But remember, here are grunge fans too, no only PJ.
Sure, i'm not one of them - if we measure being grunge fan by being Nirvana fan (it was told that Nirvana is leaderof grunge). I listened Alice..., Soundgarden, STP (well, i'm not sure if they were original...) and PJ. And i could never listen Nirvana - maybe because their first song, which i heard was "Smells like teen spirit"... or maybe just because they were sooooo f****ng famous! Voice of the generation, ha!Not 10c member? Have sth to say? write to me - I'll put it on the forum

I never liked Nirvana."The joke in your language won't come out the same" (Tom Petty)

nevermind
as much as I hate to admit it0 -
Nevermind got me into rock music but I bought Ten about three months later and after that there was no looking back as far as who my favourite band was(Pearl Jam of course)
Nevermind's a much better first listen, only Yield's given me that same 'Holy crap!' experience from the moment I first put it on.When I got Ten I was expecting something like Nirvana, but it was quite different, more spiritual and more extroverted. It took me ages to like Ten but once I did I couldn't get enough of PJ.Personally I think Nirvana would've gotten better as they got older but we'll never know I guess.
Anywho,Smells Like Teen Spirit and Drain You are probably better than anything on Ten and Nevermind is probably more exciting but Ten is more personal,Eddie poured his heart out while Kurt was always vague. It may be the devil or it may be the Lord

totally agreed. "Vedder's better."Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!

webberf1 wrote:I see it quite the opposite. In hindsight it seemed quite obvious that Nirvana was on the verge of breakup anyway. Kurt was in a hell of a downward spiral.
If Ed had have died after Vs. or Vitalogy you could say the same, what with all the pressures of fame,Dave A leaving, how much he talked about suicide and crazed fan letters in interviews, the whole not doing videos and interviews thing, sueing Ticketmaster and I'm sure people would've read into the lyrics too much in the same way they did when Kurt died(I remember Ed bein asked on MTV after Kurt's death whether or not Rearviewmirror was about suicide).
I think if they had have taken on an REM type of sound like they did on Unplugged with acoustic songs written by Kurt and then the upbeat pop ones written by Dave there'd have been no stopping them,Kurt would've been happy and they would've been the better for it.But that's just speculation I suppose....back to my point,PJ have gotten a lot better down the years for those of us who have followed them and they've done so by changing,I'd imagine Nirvana would've done the same.It may be the devil or it may be the Lord
