  • totally agree. last show in toronto was best i have seen, listen to the bootleg maybe once or twice. i think you need the vibe to truely enjoy the live experience
  • The only thing that I can think of is in 2003 after the show you received rough mix Mp3's after the night after the show and the CD's showed up about 2-3 months after the final shows of the tour. So they probably took more time mixing/mastering the discs.

Nothing compares to the mixing, mastering of '03. NOTHING!

I wish they'd stick with what they did in '03. Listen to Buffalo, Champaign, Irvine, the Japan shows. Instant orgasm to the ear.

The 2006 boots sounded great and had very fast turnaround. The last three years have been terrible compared to 2006...hell the 2005 mp3s sound better than the 2010 flacs.
  • For whatever reason, I don't find myself listening to the 2003 boots. I always turn to 05/06 tour or shows I've been to if i decide to listen to shows. I have all boots between 2000 and 2010 but I like these boots! 2000 are regular too. 2008 and 2003 don't get play anymore.
I suppose that means my favourites are 2005/06 boots!!

One important reason the boots from 2000 to 2006 sound much better and are more enjoyable to listen to than those from 2008 to 2010: Brett Eliason.

Correct, Brett Eliason mixed the shows from 2000-2006 and Barret Jones mixed the shows from 2008-2010. One constant aspect is John Burton who recorded all of the shows from 2000-2010. The 2000 Euro shows compared to the rest of the 2000 tour are slightly different. 2003 tour was constant and quality. 2005 and 2006 were fair and excellent show to show. 2008 Was too damn bassy and mixed. 2009-2010 were mixed in response to fans asking for more of a live feeling with less mixing. People wanted to hear more audience tone. Hence the drastic difference but still quality recordings.

They'll need to get Eliason back behind the mixing desk full-time for that to happen.
  • And this ladies and gentlemen (and all you naysayers) is why it will be a GOOD thing getting hold of the live on ten legs release in the new year. It will be properly mixed so even if you already have the boots of the songs chosen I think we'll see a vast difference in the sound.
"I get into a state of consciousness that I can't explain. It is about feeling and not thinking. I get positive chills and insight into things that I can't get to any other way. It is Healing of the Soul." - Mike McCready
  • Actually to be honest I had a few problems with 2003 Boots - Cameron was almost drowned out, certainly on the faster songs. At times it was all too sludgy...

2000 was great, certainly the first half of the US Leg. The Euro Boots had a warm sound, very unique. There was a lack of bass but that could be easily altered by turning the bass up on your stereo!

I really liked 2006 as well (US & Europe) infact all in all, I think they had the sound perfect by then.

    2008 - Unlistenable.

2009-2010 - There have been some good ones (London 09 being the best example) but there's still something not quite right about them. Drums sound like tin pots, and Vedder far too high in the mix.

    However I will cherish the 2000 & 2006 Boots.

If only they could release the '05 tour via Flac & CD format!

Someday that '05 compilation CD that was said to be released .. will come true. (Was first posted/answered over @ the Synergy website Rumor Pit section).

Do you have a link to that source? I believe you, I just need to have a link to the source, I've been looking all over for one, and still have not been able to find one stating that the 09/10 boots were mixed or recorded by anyone...

    Thanks in Advance.

You know I find it impossible to believe that only Brett has the knowhow to produce a decent bootleg..
It's not a matter of bringing him back
It's a matter of firing the current team..
With all due respect, we are the consumers so I dont feel like I am being hurtful with that comment.

I had my Brisbane 1 official discs within 10 days of the show.

I was driving around with my sister this past week and she had in an OAR boot, and it absolutely blew away anything from pearl jam in recent years sound quality wise.......

It's not impossible. Consumers change and so does the market. Consumers wanted to hear more audience mixed in by majority and Barret Jones did just that. I feel where you are coming from though. The band is loyal to it's technical staff the same as to it's fans and it seems that most people are content with the current bootleg products even though a more than fair number have concerns.

Like I have said in the past, if so many have issues then they should write to TenC via email or by snail mail and voice those concerns. Get organized and maybe even petition for better production and whatever concerns consumers have. Pearl Jam and it's entire camp listen to the fans and will pay attention if people rally together to make there consumer voices heard. I just don't see it being that big of a concern for the majority of us consumers. Most of us notice things but are still very pleased with what is being provided to us as a product from my observations so far.

They definitely had plenty of time to properly mix and produce the shows the last few years before making them available to customers. 2008 was awful in my opinion, I can't even stand to listen to them so I feel the pain of those who feel similar about 2009/2010 even though I don't completely agree.
