    you must be doing something wrong or something

    in the late 60's or early 70's
    my grandfather erected a tv antenna tower beside the house (in iowa not utah)
    in the early 80's we bought the place from him
    for all my childhood years we had 3 or 4 channels thanks to the tv antenna

    at some point in the mid to late 90's we had a satellite installed
    this satellite replaced the tv antenna
    it was about 40 feet off the ground
    i don't remember snow and ice ever fucking it up

    then again
    i don't remember a lot of things... :lolno:

    by the way
    this tv antenna/satellite tower was great fun for us kids to climb and it aided in our abilities to get on the house and garage roofs :evil: :twisted: :evil:

    you guys must have to put your dish at a different angle vs. us NE IL subcribers. we've had dish for 3.5 years and snow never piles up on the dish. we've had ice storms as well, and they've never been an issue.

    teh only problem we ever have is before a big thunderstorm. for some reason, it always goes out for a minute or two just as the storm is starting.

    I live right in Salt Lake fucking City....yet, no cable :evil: . somehow, by the grace of god, the dish is still bringing in a signal even tho it's been snowing ALL day. I did order some super slippery goo today....but I will have to wait until god knows when to get on my roof. :?

    Well, that underwhelming "blizzard" of last week has now shown a bit more of it's ugly face. I didn't think I was going to get my car out of my apartment complex. :o Snow plows trapped me in...I'll make sure not to park in that spot again. :x

    OK....the snow is back....I rigged up a brush on a 10' PVC pipe. I still need the extension ladder, but I was able to resuscitate the signal :? .

    we had 4-5 inches of snow and a little drizzle with no signal loss. :P

    I bought a 3 piece, extending 16' pole ($27) and cob web brush ($8) at Home Depot. it's all good now....altho I still have to stand on a ladder to get a "visual" :roll:
