When played with full intensity, can completely surround you.

That's worth it's own thread. Show some love..

    Hear, hear.
Mike playing the intro to Given to Fly as an encore opener i Berlin in 2006 was absolutely one of the highlights for me. - excellent spot in the setlist. I love that tune and two years ago, at the time of the Berlin show it was proberly my favorite song overall....whooo I have to put the DVD on.........

Beautiful Song! I love everything about it especially the intro and verses guitar riff!

Yea i do wish they would slow it down live now back to the 98 tempo, you can still rock out to it and it builds more momentum.
I have settled on my first pj tattoo, the yield sign with the words "he still stands" inside the red zone, one word on each side.
I really got into the band in 98 so this song is especially important to me and may be my personal favorite song, although i could never put Black lower than any other song...decisions decisions...

I remember the first time I really heard this song, I was in the car, on the way to school in the morning. I put on Yield, I hadn't heard it that many times. The tune didn't catch me at first, but the second verse, the "he still stands" part made my hair stand up on end. I listened to it again and again until we arrived.

The first time I saw Pearl Jam play was the night this song became my favourite Pearl Jam track...it was mesmerising.

Luckily, it's one of only two songs they've played at every show I've seen.

An absolute shiny gem, on an album with many shiny gems. Given To Fly is something special. I have enjoyed every time I have gotten to hear it live, especially at The Gorge.

Completely agree, I was listening to a '98 boot and GTF was almost 30 seconds longer then it has been in the past 6-7 years, Matt really has upped the tempo on that song. Perhaps the band knows people want to hear it, but they (the band) want to get it over with so it doesn't take up so much concert time. Not that it's a long song anyway...

When the crowd gets into it, it's such a great live tune...much like Corduroy.
