There was a time you were admired
by the eyes below.

You were an idol, a model of perfection,
at best, a future reflection.

Days passed, as well as the time not spent.
The exchanges short, and the efforts were only meant.

The mirror that reflected you is now shattered,
and those eyes are now above.

You no longer remain an aspiration,
now an inspiration.

To surpass, to exceed,
to step out of your shadow,
in sight of the eyes below me.
