I was thinking the other day about songs that I heard Pearl Jam record or perform long before I heard the original. And also... how much better (and rarely worse) Pearl Jam does them. Here's my list of songs I heard Pearl Jam do before the original:

Crazy Mary
Love Reign O'er Me
I Got You
Ship Song
I've Just Seen a Face
Arm's Aloft
Baba O Riley ( I know, I know.. but I'm young... hey I love the Who now)
Leaving Here
Sonic Reducer
Masters of War
Little Wing

When I look back on it... Pearl Jam opened me up to SOOO much more music.

  • i couldn't agree w/ you more. I have found lots of new music by exploring the covers. however; i didn't really care for Public Image or Arms Aloft. 8-)

Really? I found it more like a generation gap connector for the parents and the kids of the day in which I found pretty cool. It was one song that both my parents and I could identify with... and for once they were not saying turn that crap down. ;)

Oh well such is life. Cheers

One of my favorite's is "I only play for money". I don't think they've played it much, all I have heard is a real crap recoding of it.

i'm not sure if they meant it bit with all the covers they do, it keeps the interest up during their time off so instead if playing their records to death, there is plenty of other stuff to get into

i would go as far to say that i listen to more covers then actual albums

at the moment there's under pressure, waiting for a friend, that feel to name a few
