NEW YORK (WPIX) - Police were called to a posh midtown Manhattan hotel early Tuesday after a reportedly drunk, half-naked Charlie Sheen was discovered in a trashed room with a woman said to be an escort.

Sheen, 45, was staying at The Plaza Hotel, located on Fifth Avenue at Central Park South, when hotel security arrived to his room at around 1:30 a.m., the New York Post reported.

A naked woman, who was later identified as an escort, was found screaming inside a closet apparently "fearing for her life," sources told Life & Style magazine. NYPD officials did not immediately reveal whether a woman was in fact discovered in the room with Sheen.

The hotel room was found in shambles with tables and chairs thrown around the room and a chandelier in the suite completely damaged, reports said. Hotel security reportedly estimate the damage at $7,000.

When police officers approached Sheen, described as incoherent, he began to scream slurs at them. The "Two and a Half Men" star later told cops he was "out partying," according to the Post.

Sheen apparently flew into a fit a rage when he discovered his wallet missing and proceeded to cause damage to the room, the report said.

Officers, who recognized the actor, gave him the choice of going to jail or the hospital, Life & Style Magazine reports.




Witnesses say Sheen exited the hotel clad in just a bathrobe and shorts as he entered an awaiting ambulance. He was accompanied by his ex-wife Denise Richards, 39, to New York Presbyterian Hospital.

The NYPD would only confirm that a 45-year-old emotionally disturbed white man was transported from The Plaza Hotel to the hospital early Tuesday.

No charges were filed against Sheen as of yet because he was hospitalized as an emotionally disturbed person.

Richards is in New York for a family vacation and to promote her recurring role on Spike TV's "Blue Mountain State." The pair's two young daughters Sam, 6, and Lola, 5, were also in town, and were sleeping in a separate room at the time of the incident.
