Ed is known for his on-stage banter, particularly basing other bands, and a lot of it is pretty damn funny. I heard him talking about Jewel one time...how he can't wait to her her new song...on a commercial for a feminine hygiene product. And who could forget Ed's comments in the Garden in '03 about Good Charlotte. And in Hershey in 03, the comments about the mosquito bite girl had me in tears. Please share some of your favorite Ed shit talkin' moments :D

the best part is at the end of the rant when he decides it probably is best to just get a guitar

Detroit I 03, where he's ranting about all of the signage and advertising at the show.

I guess I'm partial, as I was there.

I always liked the NW speetch from the Soldier Field show in Chicago back in July 95. Don't know why, just thought it was interesting cause he goes on a rant about security the night before and getting them the fuck out of here" and goes right back to saying things NW might stand for. LOL :D

Oslo 2000: There was a guy who got Eddie's attention by screaming. Eddie was introducing Timeless Melody and talked about the artist who wrote the song: "... and the singer couldn't handle the big time, he went crazy - and I think it's him right there screaming. Do you wanna sing? It's your song! ... He's nervous, he doesn't want to be in front of people..."

  • Mansfield 7/2/2003: Ed talks about Celine Dion.. Don't know exactly what he said but it was something like "Sony puts out a lot of little robot dogs.. I was thinking that maybe Celine Dion is a robot" and that Sony put in too much ego and so on.. haha

Couldn't remember how the story went exactly so I grabbed it from five horizons. Not trash talking per say just a funny rant.

Before the first encore, Eddie came out, jumps OVER the amps and then jumps on a roadie's back. Eddie starts saying, "There are a lot of people in this town named Norman, N as in Nancy, Norman." He then asks one roadie what his name is: "James." He asks another one and gets another answer. "See, I don't know, I just heard that this town was full of Normans." (For those who may not know, Salt Lake City is where the headquarters of the Mormon religion is.) Then he says, "Dennis Rodman told me to tell you all to fuck off."

Also that Jewel comment was hilarious I couldn't believe he actually said it.

Ed returns for the second encore alone and talks a bit about Jewel and how if he messes up a lyric, it is because he is so highly anticipating her new record release. He goes on about how one of her songs will be part of a commercial for ladies' razors or a feminine hygiene product and how exciting that is because he won't have to buy it, he can just watch TV and wait for the commercial. He talks about PJ's best commercial offer that was for Viagra. "It was a singing penis ... a little singing cock singing I'm still alive. Six million dollars we turned down to prevent our song from being sung by a cock."

Completely forgot about the singing cock lilne.

A little singing cock? Haha, thats hilarious...thanks for sharing. Is there any truth to Viagra wanting to use a PJ song in their commercial, or was that just something Ed made up?

No idea, if there is any truth to it never thought of checking Eddie's facts. Just always figured he made it up so he could wrap up the Jewel rant with a funny story about one of their songs.
