Holy shit...listened to my Camden I boot...

Let me start with this disclaimer:

My girl and I were at this show. It was a very magical evening...

Now on to my review...

This is without a doubt one of the greatest shows, and one of the greatest boots I have ever heard. The band was amazingly tight that evening, the crowd was really into it, with great sing-alongs & Ed's voice sounds absolutely superb. The mixing and the mastering on this boot are damn near flawless as far as I'm concerned. No one individual is too high or too low in the mix. They just sound like one perfect cohesive unit. We both knew that we were witnessing a fantastic show that night, but this boot takes it to a whole other level. Just fucking amazing.

I had been dreading even listening to this boot after listening to Bonaroo, but this boot has completely removed that bad taste in my mouth left by that mess...

I am absolutely floored...Everyone NEEDS to hear this boot...

Check out how Boom's keys makes 'Rats' seem like it could have been a Stevie Wonder song...it really adds a whole other dimension to the song.

I loved it when Ed said "this next one is about lead singers" and they go into RATS.

he was a riot that night

I played it for the 1st time last night and was thinking of starting a thread almost exactly saying what you said. Except, I wasn't there, and I thought the Bonnaroo sound quality was great. This one is perfect though.

For example, I listened to All night Bonnaroo vs Camden 1. At Camden 1, they totally nailed it. In hiding was remarkable. I can't say enough about this one. It was a dream setlist based on my PJ favorites.

Like you said, the sound quality is amazing.

How could something so beautiful come from such an awful place.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

The fact is that Pearl Jam has NEVER played a bad show at Camden as far as I'm concerned. They've played there what? 8 times now? I've seen 4 of those shows, and they were all incredible. That place has amazing sound and acoustics.

About the acoustics, I was all the way to the left in the back of the pavilion.. i mean ALL THE WAY left, on the aisle of the wall. sound was awful. I actually had to go to the lawn for better sound.

Kind of tainted an otherwise amazing show for me.

Nice! I'm definitely ordering this one as soon as I catch up on a few things.

Anyone heard either of the Mansfield boots yet? I ordered both after the shows and just got my shipping email today so I shouldn't have to wait much longer. But it would be really nice to see a "Mansfield boots sound amazing!!!" thread, even if that's just one person's opinion.

I was at almost all of those. I'd say the 1998-2000 ones were amazing, 2003-2006 good, and 2008 amazing again.

It's funny how everyone talks about how 'epic' the MSG, and the Mansfield, and Seattle shows always are, meanwhile the Camden shows almost seem to fly under the radar, and yet they are almost ALWAYS as good if not better than those shows. Sure the area is like downtown Beirut, but it's well worth the trip...

Considering that this was my first show, definitely looking forward to listening to this boot after reading that review.

Seriously - yeah, it's a ghetto. We get it. But are you gonna piss your pants just because you're in Camden, or because something actually happened to you in Camden? And it's a little different when you're there with 24,999 other people. I can see if you were in the same area at 3 am and when there's no shows going on. That's just plain stupidity. It's a great venue, great tailgate. Keep playing there.

all right, I know Camden has it's faults big time, but the actual location of the Susquehanna Center is quite pretty.

I just got my Camden boot today. I think it sounds alright so far but a little tiny, or flat.

Maybe its because I was listening to the '03 boot earlier, but in my opinion it just doesn't compare. And nothing against the '08 boots, I don't think the '06's were as good either. The '03 boots just sound fuller.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... The Camden II '06 boot is one of the most underrated Pearl Jam boots. As many boots as I've collected since then, I keep going back to that one. The sound is perfect, the crowd great, and the band (especially Ed's voice and Mike's playing) are flawless. The whole band was extremely tight that night. Begins with one of the best versions of Wash I've heard. All the Avocado and old stuff are completely nailed and kick you in the teeth...

In comparison, I recently received the Camden II '08 boot and it just doesn't hold water to Camden II '06. Not even close. I mean, both gigs were great live (I was at both). It's always an honor to share the room with Pearl Jam. But just speaking about a great boot, go with '06. Ed's voice is the clincher.

    Cheers-

Camden 2 this year - Ed was sick, so that may have something to do with it not holding water

I was there, it was a great show, but it didn't compare to Thursday's show

Hmmm... I hadn't heard Ed was sick for Friday's show. I'll have to check out Thursday's show (Camden I). Thanks for the recommendation.
