This is one that I came across. Really a replica that deserves to be called a replica.Believe me, when I was growin up, I thought the worst thing you could turn out to be was normal, So I say freaks in the most complementary way. Here's a song by a fellow freak - E.V0 -
Trey Anastasio's custom built Langudoc guitar....Languedoc has started making ones for the public but they are quite pricey...its based on the old Fender Starcaster, maybe Fender will start making those again

Chuck Berry's ES-330/ES-335....

while i'm at it i think i would take caleb followill's walnut gibson hollow body with the mini humbuckers in it...that is pretty much his trademark guitar and is the only one i have seen him play the last 3 times i have seen them, aside from his acoustic for "fans"..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

not after playing the 335. i'd have said the same thing after owning multiple sheratons and epi dots but an actual 335 is on a different planet. that being said; the union jack epi is awesome as are all things noel-related.0 -
ryan adams's peanut.0

sadly i think he smashed that one in the midst of a backstage tantrum recently. but gibson to the rescue evidently.

i hate when people smash their shit...it is so cliche anymore it doesn't mean anything other than the guy has an anger issue...
lol....i guess i would not take it now since it has been pretty much rebuilt....
i never understood breaking your guitar because you are pissed at the sound guy...but i guess if you have the money and don't care about resale value, smash away..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I think smashing guitars is:
A) A waste... Every time a rockstar smashes his guitar, there are a shitload of kids that would kill for that guitar...Someone put a lot of effort into making those, smashing it, just spitting in that guy (or girls) face...

i agree with you though. it is a waste of wood as well, some tree died to become that guitar and to waste it like that just kind of bothers me, ya know?
i like this thread, we have gotten to see some true works of art, and iconic guitars..."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

and who would not take billy gibbons' pearly gates les paul??"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln

I smashed a cheap guitar I had (custom made). By custom made, I mean it was a "project" that someone messed up on and the neck broke off, taking part of the body. It was also during this time that I was going through a serious break up (some may remember). I was playing a set and finished the song and smashed the guitar---well, what was left, at least. Like I said, the neck had already been partially broken off so it was set just so I could play something really quick. I kept the pups and electronics, signed the neck and gave it to a friend, and my other friend (now bassist) turned the body into a clock. So, it wasn't a total loss.Grand Rapids '04, Detroit '06

Oh, are we doing basses now? That's right up my alley.
Let's see...
I call:
Entwisle's Fenderbird
Waters' black Precision
Lemmy's Rick (Not the ugly-ass carved one he's currently playing, but the blonde one from the 80's)
Guy Pratt's "Betsy" J-Bass
But actually, there's a lot of very cool vintage basses out there, which look (and probably sound) insanely good and aren't in that outrageous vintage guitar pricerange (yet). So who knows... Someday I might even be able to afford my "dream"bass... A guy is allowed to dream, right?0 -
Id love one of Adam Jones' circa 1980 Custom Silverbursts.
And Mikes '59 strat.0 -
Jimmy Page's #1 Les Paul should be on the list instead of the double neck.
I choose that one and his Tele before his tech "repaired" it.
An Adam Jones Silverburst would be nice, but I already have a new one.
Jack White's Gretsch White Penguin and the copper topped one from the Raconteurs
Rich Robinson's LP-style Zemaitis
David Gilmour's pinkish Strat with the uber low serial #
Dave Grohl's Trini Lopez Gibson
Slash's LP copy
John Paul Jones' "3 necked acoustical instrument"
Brent Hinds' clear flying V
Jim James' Fender XII
Randy Rhoads white LP Custom
McCartney's violin bass
Brian May's Red Special
Lenny or SRV #10 -
^^^ that is a hellova list...
i remember when i was first starting to play i always wanted a yellowish les paul custom like randy's. i even took a picture of randy playing it to my local guitar shop and this is how the conversation went..
me- "dude i want one of these. that exact color. do you have one in stock?"
clerk- "unfortunately not. those things are hard to come by..."
me- "well can you order me one from gibson??"
clerk- "i'd love to, but they don't make them in that color."
me- "well how did randy get one and how do i go about getting one????"
clerk- "buy a white one and wait about 20 years."
me- "uhhh ok..."
i eventually got an alpine white les paul custom a few years later. it is five years old now and is my main guitar and the neck is FINALLY beginning to yellow, but the body is still very white....stupid thicker lacquer...lol"You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
