I said '85 "or so". I was a couple years off. I was in jr high.
  • Great band. Plan to see them Tuesday in Boston.
NEVER would go to see them 2 times in one tour.
28 shows this tour and the exact same set list every single show.
Maybe they sound so tight live because it is the same show every night.

Man... Long time Rush fan, this will be my first time seeing them, 2 weeks from tonight and I'm super stoked. It's going to be awesome. Massive Neil Pert fan... no offense to the likes of Danny Carey, Matt Cameron, etc, but there isn't a drummer on this planet that can keep up with Neil IMO.

I don't want to compare Rush and PJ... both are amazing in their own right, but they are two completely different music styles (within the rock and roll genre of course).

Interesting side note for any Canadian's out there (or just Rush and/or Trailer Park Boys fans): One of the guys who play on my rec hockey team in Houston, TX, grew up in the same suburb as Geddy and Alex, and he was actually the guy who introduced Alex to the Trail Park Boys, which led to the most excellent day in Sunnyvale Trailer Park history when Ricky kidnapped Alex....
Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.
  • Rush (Lee and Peart at least) are 10x the musicians that Pearl Jam are. I'm going to see them for the first time in 10+ years and am pretty stoked. Time to rediscover the roots... anyone else? They're doing the entire "Moving Pictures" album to boot... holy shit.

better musicians does NOT equal a better band.

See: Nirvana, Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page in particular), The Beatles, I could go on.

Saw them opening night of this tour... Good show, but not the best Rush tour I've been to. I was personally blown away on the Vapor Trails tour!

This statement was to get attention.

    And couldn't be more wrong.
  • Rush is definately my favorite closely followed by PJ. 18 studios and still touring and still sound good! I do agree with above posters that comparing Rush to PJ is like comparing apples to oranges. This thread should be moved to "Other Music".

I forget what movie this rant is from, but I have to go there....

Saying "like comparing apples to oranges" is so incredibly stupid. I mean, apples and oranges are very similar... they're both fruit that grow on a tree, have skin and seeds, and you can eat them.... If you swapped one for the other in my lunch I probably wouldn't know the fucking difference!!!!

So say it's like comparing oranges to an iPod or comparing apples to a doorstop... that makes much more sense!!

and of course I must close this message with:

    just sayin

Let's see here. The members of both bands have skin, there are guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards in both bands. Both bands play rock, and have been around a while.
    Just sayin

  • I just saw RUSH last night for the 20th time. Fucking WOW. The three finest musicians of all time, hands down....... If anyone gets a chance to see rush this year (it's getting to the wire) do it, you will not be disappointed. I love my grunge music, but RUSH still amazes me.....

    Cheers.

I'll be seeing Rush for the second time tomorrow night and I can't wait! They are an amazing band and definitely one of my favorites.

They should be touring against next year so hope to catch them then also.
