Rush is definately my favorite closely followed by PJ. 18 studios and still touring and still sound good! I do agree with above posters that comparing Rush to PJ is like comparing apples to oranges. This thread should be moved to "Other Music".

I forget what movie this rant is from, but I have to go there....

Saying "like comparing apples to oranges" is so incredibly stupid. I mean, apples and oranges are very similar... they're both fruit that grow on a tree, have skin and seeds, and you can eat them.... If you swapped one for the other in my lunch I probably wouldn't know the fucking difference!!!!

So say it's like comparing oranges to an iPod or comparing apples to a doorstop... that makes much more sense!!

and of course I must close this message with:

    just sayin

Houston, Texas... Believe it or not, there are 7 million people here... must be a couple of fans who'd love to see you play.

Let's see here. The members of both bands have skin, there are guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards in both bands. Both bands play rock, and have been around a while.

  • I just saw RUSH last night for the 20th time. Fucking WOW. The three finest musicians of all time, hands down....... If anyone gets a chance to see rush this year (it's getting to the wire) do it, you will not be disappointed. I love my grunge music, but RUSH still amazes me.....

    Cheers.

I'll be seeing Rush for the second time tomorrow night and I can't wait! They are an amazing band and definitely one of my favorites.

They should be touring against next year so hope to catch them then also.

Well, the band STILL kocks as they did last Saturday in Bristow Va. I flew up to DC for the 46th time I think i've seen the band. They Rocked the Moving Pictures album along with the new songs and one of my all time favorite songs The Camera Eye.

Now the finish the Time Machine Tour up the street and finally here in West Palm Beach, FL 10/2. This is the very first time i'll see them at the end of a tour and it should be ALL fun.

2.gif still rules after 35+ years and that fact is simply amazing.

They came here recently and I don't care how good of musicians they are, their music sucks, IMO.

That has to be the reason why they have never been nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I hope they never ever get in, the Hall has become a joke.

  • No but they will be receiving Classic Rock magazine's living legend award at the classic rock award in London (UK) in November. Fuck the RRHOF! Here's hoping Rush play a show while they're in London

I forgot about them in the 90's until a producer pointed out, "Hey, you're the best power trio in the business, with the best bass player in the world stuck behind a stack of synths!"

Vapor Trails was an awesome moment in rock-n-roll -- Rush was back! And they keep delivering, I've seen 'em just about every tour (cept a few in the 90s) since about '82 I think!

The new movie about them "Beyond a Lighted Stage" is an awesome watch, period. Get them or not, the chronicle of their career should facinate any music fan. As one person pointed out, Grohl or Corgan, yeah, they've been marginalized ... but c'mon at the 35-year mark you've just GOT to toss all the BS aside and admit, "These guys ROCK!"

Like listening to Crooked Vultures, whoa, that bass player is rippin' it up!

Most consecutive gold or platinum studio albums by a rock band?

    #1 Beatles
    #2 Rolling Stones
    #3 RUSH

Done without radio play, without press, without music videos (for the most part), without major marketing (for the most part) -- simply on the strength of their fan base. As awesome as "Beyond a Lighted Stage," the new DVD on their history, is, I would say the 2003 DVD "Rush in Rio" is an even more intense view of the band. Them rocking out in Sao Paulo to 60,000 fans, not a music festival, no opening acts, just RUSH -- well, that's just mind melting!

Hearing 60,000 fans kinda soccer chant their way through YYZ -- an intrumental! -- is hilarious fun!

Enjoy the last show on this tour! After seeing them in August, I was definitely inclined to book a flight and catch them again, but with JackJohnson/Bridge/JohnButler/STP and a few others I'm forgetting, my concert calendar is pretty full -- AND WE KNOW THEY'LL BE BACK NEXT YEAR!

    WOOT! New Album!

Consistancy, has always been the name of the game with RUSH. I read that somewhere about the consecutive gold albums. RIR was so awesome with all the chants in front ALL those rabid fans. It will be fun this Saturday for the 2nd time around.

I've forgotten about them too. I used to absolutely obsessed with this band. IMO they are the most talented band I have ever heard. Think I'm going to go spin Moving Pictures (which is one of the best albums of all time).

Rush have been the most important band in my life.Been a fan since pre teens. No one sounds like them.Sadly I have only seen them live once, they haven't been to Scotland much and when they did gig's sold out very fast.
But when I did see them I was mesmerised and reduced to tears at finally seeing them.
I think Alex is one of the most charismatic man in music.

New songs, I think like most of Rush for the past 20 years, are taking their time growing on me. They ripped in concert, thick heavy riffs. But there's always those complicated asides, shifts, drifts that take me a bit to accomodate -- they definitely don't write simple little songs!

I think Earthshine has been one of my favs of the new era of Rush, but I'm so blown away by their arrangements on the Summertime Blues cover tunes album.
