those festival guesses are slightly skewed no? i mean thats the attendence at the FESTIVAL on a given day, not at the main stage. I mean, at Lolla, Bonnaroo, Leeds, Reading, etc there are at least 6/7 stages! surely a fair chunk of the crowd were at the other closing acts.
Festivals that dont have tons of stages have smaller attendances, but similar sized areas for the main stage - eg: werchter, hurricane, southside, azkena, the madrid & lisbon shows from 07, are examples.
What was the attendence for Nijmegen?
Id say the south america attendences are highest average for a tour at least0 -

I heard upwards of 80,000 but it could be more, there were people stretched the length of grant park.randomhero_204 wrote:what was the attendence for Lollapalooza 07? I thought I heard that the sunday single day tickets where sold out for Pearl Jam.... being in the middle of that crowd (roughly a football field length away from the stage) and looking behind me all I could see was thousands upon thousands of people stretching back as far as the Grant Park Fountain.
Does anyone actually know what the attendance was for Lolla?Small my table, seats just 3, its not crowded, its just lucky me0 -

According to Dutch newspapers Nijmegen was around 40.000.....
Arnhem (Gelredome) was 32.000.....Dream the dreams of other men,...You´ll be no ones rival,...

Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City has approximately 22,000 seats, of course this does not include the floor area, but still I think it would be hard pressed to beat out other venue's already listed.
As for Lolla, the field was completely packed, there may have been a lot of invited guests that were not official ticket holders, but that section of grant park was packed. Compared to radio head this year, which sold out at 75,000 tickets, I would wager there was more attendance at Pearl Jam last year.0 -

Pearl Jam was the only band playing that night at Lollapalooza. There's no way to really tell how many people were there, but anyone still at Lolla that night was at Pearl Jam or going home. The 60,000 figure above seems low though... I wonder if that is just one-day tickets available not counting 3-day passes sold. If Radiohead sold more tickets, there must have been a lot of disappointed people that night. Their set sucked and I've never been in a crowd less interested in what was going on onstage. Pearl Jam seemed to have every person there in the palm of their hand.she was underwhelmed, if that's a word0 -
            Both were in Chicago:
Lolla: 100,000
Soldier Field: 55,0000 -
Lolla probably takes the crown seeing as nobody else was playing by then and so many people stayed to watch Pearl Jam.
Nijmegen was the biggest PJ show that I've been part of; 40,000 sounds about right. I was about 6 rows back and looking behind me was scary."This town deserves a better class of criminal... and I'm gonna give it to them."0 -

60,000 does seem low, though it's from Billboard who provide the most official stats for the concert industry, supplied by the venue/promotor/band. I guess we'll never know as all the eye witness accounts pretty much double it. As for other festivals and multiple stages, I think at least for the last hour at Reading/leeds the only stages open are the main stage and the 2nd stage (tent) which holds about 5,000, again of course you'll never get 100% acurate stats on how many attended Pearl Jam or whoever. My PJ shows:
London 28/10/96, Las Vegas 11/7/98, London 29/5/00, Nurnburg 11/6/00, Prague 14/6/00, Salzburg 18/6/00, Verona 20/6/00, Milan 22/6/00, Zurich 23/6/00, New York 8-9/7/03, Boston 11/7/03, Reading Festival 27/8/06, Shepards Bush 11/8/09, Berlin 15/8/09, Manchester 17/8/09, London 18/8/09, Dublin 22/6/10, Belfast 23/6/10, London (HRC) 25/6/10, Alpine Valley (PJ20) 3-4/9/11, Manchester 20-21/6/12, Leeds 8/7/14, Milton Keynes 11/7/14 To be continued....0 -
someone posted a day or two after the concert saying they talked to some cops that night and they said they figured it was 115,000 to 125,000 in grant park0

What a beautiful peaceful evening. I was able to get a wristband for the pit but it was too crowded for my wife so we backed just out of the protected barrier fence. The next night at the Werchter festival was a much bigger crowd, estimated # 60,000+So, What you Giving ?........ (Thanks Speedy, Alesek, & Arq+friends)
What You Giving
I suggest you step out on your Porch.
Run away my son. See it all. Oh, See the World!0 -
