Spectrum- please read

Those that havent been at the Spectrum and havent lived an experience(s) there thoughout the years have no idea of the history and nostalgia. The arena is alive and you can feel it. The seating is right at or on top of the headline, its quaint, and comfortable. Its a symbol of the working class men and women of Philadelphia, not this overpriced plush corporate bullshit that gets jammed down our throats. Its unexplainable, its the old saying "you just had to be there". Believe me I will be there when they tear it down.

Long live the Spectrum... peace out, from Newtown, Bucks.

Even if the Phillies had a home game, that would have nothing to do with anything going on at the Spectrum. There's plenty of parking there. I went to a show at the Spectrum when there was a sixers game next door and a phillies game at the other next door.

I saw AC/DC 4 times in the Spectrum, saw Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, and a host of others...some of the greatest shows I have seen.

Its a great concert venue

Hell Yeah....Rocky is a real person in Philly. The list of champs goes Ali, Frazier, Creed, Balboa.....we always have that discussion when we go there its awesome how something can become part of life like that.

As I said, I am not a Philly fan by any means but the Spectrum is one of the best venues for a concert........

Not to mention that some legendary tours by Led Zeppelin, the Who and the Stones stopped at the Spectrum; it was definitely a pivotal stop during the 70s.

major league schedules kind of dictate the area and sometimes they can't avoid them however when they can avoid them such as with a concert, they will especially when The Mann and Camden are still functioning.........PJ at the Mann would probably be a cool venue as well.

As for skipping MSG in 2006, it had to do with scheduling as they were doing some work on the Garden..........

The spectrum ain't Wrigley, it ain't Fenway, it aint MSG, it ain't......well it ain't that special of a place.

after 35 shows, i still haven't felt anything like the crowd energy the night of the spectrum show.

Honestly part of me hopes they don't play the spectrum again. This way all of those who weren't at the '03 show can keep on saying the venue isn't that great, and the 18,500+ of us who were there can know the truth.

There was something in the air that night (4/28/03) that I don't believe can ever be replicated. The band felt it and the crowd felt it. Like it or not, Philadelphia and Pearl Jam have a special connection, and Eddie has made mention of it many, many times. It was first given a name and a voice in the form of The Spectrum, and if you weren't there, you'll never understand.

The Spectrum is an unbelievable venue. I hope to see one more Flyers game and PJ show there before it all comes down. For those who have never experienced a Spectrum event, you're missing out.

I basically grew up in the Spectrum...saw so many memorable concerts there..U2 in the 80's. The Cure, REM, Guns n Roses / Soundgarden, etc in the 90's. PJ in 03 and I just recently saw the Foos there and I can tell you that place is amazing..I am seriously going to miss the shows there...oh and btw...the reason the Cure and Foos played it this year instead of the big house was to say goodbye to one of their favorite places to play.

I actually didnt know it either until a friend that works group sales at wachovia told me that they both pushed for the Spectrum over the Center. I thought it was cool too. Too bad NIN didnt feel the same way..telling by their ticket sales they shoulda chosen a smaller arena
