Ha Ha Ha....I remember reading that statement years ago.
It still makes me laugh to this day because I can't help but think the whole "Left to study music" thing was a backhanded insult aimed at Dave A.
Jeff Ament said in an interview once that although Dave was a good drummer, you'd ask him to play like the Buzzcocks on a certain track and the reference would be totally lost on him.
I always think about the "Rearviewmirror" story about Brendan O' Brien and Eddie pushing Dave so hard and agressivley during the recording, that by songs end, a pissed off Dave punchs a hole in his snare, throws his sticks against the wall, walks out of the studio, and throws his snare drum off the cliff.
It's obvious that the band wanted something out of Dave A that he just couldn't give.
Not the first or last time this ever happend in Rock'n'Roll...just ask Pete Best
Great comment! I actually remember that quote from Jeff Ament. I think it was in the Spin issue for their 10th bday or something.

wow your DJ actually mentions PJ? I live in NC, and we are lucky to hear anything other than Ten, and a smartass comment about how PJ sucks now afterwards. Consider yourself lucky, seriously who gives a shit if he was informed wrong, I don't see the big deal.
