...relax and just change the radio station if you hate them so much.

I appreciate the OP sticking up for the greatest American band ever, but gotta agree - radios come with buttons so you can change the channel if you don't like the output. Otherwise, call this guy up at the station and talk PJ with him. If he's the fan he claims to be, he'll talk to you about the band.

In the meantime, put your PJ playlist on shuffle and enjoy all four of the band's drummers.

In closing, while the playlist at WMMR is good for the most part, the DJs FUCKING SUCK. But hey, if you enjoy morons grunting and laughing about shit that isn't funny, I highly recommend the Preston and Steve morning show.

Truer words have never been typed. YSP is certainly no better, but that Preston and Steve show is an abortion. If I want to hear people laugh at their own unfunny jokes, I'll talk to myself.

Could be worse - they could syndicate Bob and Tom.
  • IMO, the press release by the band saying Dave had quit to "study music" was not an attempt to save face or an attempt to help Dave find another job, it was a snide, backdoor insult. To sat that the drummer in the, at the time, biggest band in the world felt he needed to go study music is a kick to Dave's ass on the way out the door. It's implying that Dave felt he was the weakest link.

I didn't even read your the original post but Pierre NEVER had my respect. All the guy wants is to hear himself talk. And don't get me started on his "vinyl cut". Who the fuck wants to hear a vinyl record played over terrestrial radio? And when he reads the text messages people send him....wow. "Pierre, you're a god for playing The Clash!"

No you're not dude. No you're not.

I totally agree. Pierre is a total moron who just likes to hear himself talk. His schtick is old anymore.

Preston & Steve were ok when they 1st came on the air, now I cant stand them either. They laugh about the same stupid shit all morning long.

I do like Jaxson as a DJ though. He's the best that WMMR has.

Ha Ha Ha....I remember reading that statement years ago.

It still makes me laugh to this day because I can't help but think the whole "Left to study music" thing was a backhanded insult aimed at Dave A.

Jeff Ament said in an interview once that although Dave was a good drummer, you'd ask him to play like the Buzzcocks on a certain track and the reference would be totally lost on him.

I always think about the "Rearviewmirror" story about Brendan O' Brien and Eddie pushing Dave so hard and agressivley during the recording, that by songs end, a pissed off Dave punchs a hole in his snare, throws his sticks against the wall, walks out of the studio, and throws his snare drum off the cliff.

It's obvious that the band wanted something out of Dave A that he just couldn't give.

Not the first or last time this ever happend in Rock'n'Roll...just ask Pete Best :)

Great comment! I actually remember that quote from Jeff Ament. I think it was in the Spin issue for their 10th bday or something.

wow your DJ actually mentions PJ? I live in NC, and we are lucky to hear anything other than Ten, and a smartass comment about how PJ sucks now afterwards. Consider yourself lucky, seriously who gives a shit if he was informed wrong, I don't see the big deal.
