Remember the good old days of believing in something and someone genuine, authentic, real?
In case you don't remember here is some help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNAoi6ff ... r_embedded
So why the support for Obama? Not only does it boggle the mind because the two are so incredibly different, but I have to question the motive of jumping off the Nader train and onto the Obama train(wreck)...

But let's just assume for a second that he "isn't bad".
Is that what it's all about?
Or is it about sticking with someone who is something a little better than "not bad"?
People can say what they want about Ralph Nader but there is no denying that he is a true American Hero. He's an honest man. And IMO, and I believe in Ed's opinion, according to past action, interviews, rants, etc. if he were our president, this country and this world would be a better place. So why support a phony instead the last time around instead of sticking with what seemed to be pretty strong conviction that Ralph Nader is the best option? After listening to Ed's staunch support of Nader on several occasions I seriously doubt he ever thought Obama would make a better president than Nader.
So he bought into the whole "vote for the lesser of two evils" argument? I just think it's bullshit. And I think it's shameful. And of all the good things he's said and done I think it's one irresponsible way to use his "celebrity" to get people to buy into some bullshit idea of "hope" while Obama is sucking corporate dicks and killing innocent humans in hopeless and meaningless wars.0 -
the haves /the have nots
the privileged/the worker bees
the inner circle/ the no where near
the rich / the working class
the corporations / ma and pop
the banks / slaves
this is how I see the world now
Republican / Democrat.....joke......the power is the same with a different face and a change up in bullshit. Power is money that is all. If you have it the years to come will be good, if you don't have it you haven't got a prayer, well maybe only a prayer.0 -

why are you so worried about what Ed thinks...?
think for yourself...
as for Nader..he should run for congress and work from there...lots of folks are honest...it doesn't necessarily mean they should be President....0 -

exactly, the things obama has done i am convinced would have happened regardless of which democrat had won. politics is a great big scam, the only difference is what base gets the most crumbs thrown to it which alternates with who is in power.
it seems like people vote to keep the other guy out more than voting to support someone. before the election i kept hearing how it was all about supreme court picks and how we couldn't afford to let mccain pick any and then obama goes and picks kagan???? if any republican had nomintated kagan the left would've gone crazy, the same way they used to be so upset about the patriot act, warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, secret prisons, indefinite detention of suspected terrorists without a trial, secret closed door meetings with energy companies and industries then argued we can't know what they talk about because of "national security" because we all know the country would just collapse if iran or al qaeda knew what this administration talked about with the coal industry over their regulations, which i don't think are finished being written yet
a corporate whore defending the status quo is a corporate whore defending the status quo regardless of what letter is next to their name or what catchy marketing slogans they used during campaign time.
if only the thread was still around when it was leaked obama's chief economic and trade advisor told the canadians obama's anti-nafta rhetoric was more about political posturing than actual policy, it would be funny how they screamed that was a lie if it wasn't so sad that it was proven to be true and it was just empty rhetoric to gain votes and have it just shrugged off. what happened to moral integrity? it seems like people constantly redefine what is ok and keep moving the line of what is acceptable further and further back in order to support their team.Post edited by Pepe Silvia ondon't compete; coexist

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

You know, this thread makes a pretty valid point. I'm going to stop listening to all my Pearl Jam CD's, donate all my posters to the animal shelter so they can line the pens and use my DVD's as coasters (image side down of course, I don't want to look at the art)...because when I'm listening to Pearl Jam I make sure Eddie never changes his opinion on anything and acts like he did back in 1991. Change is for idiots and anyone who changes is a hypocrite.0

unsung I stopped by on March 7 2024. First time in many years, had to update payment info. Hope all is well. Politicians suck. Bye. Posts: 9,487satansbed wrote:because obama isn't bad....
Nah, he isn't that bad. I mean if I really got off being in debt and spending more than I can afford I'm sure I'd love him too.0 -
The real problem is US, we allow these thieves and liars to fill their pockets year after year and when they get caught, nothing ever happens.0

It's not uncommon to admire people for what they believe in. All I'm saying is I admire him less for what I see as giving up on someone with strong values and integrity and a very long history of doing good for others and improving this world, in order to support his competitor who apparently has this bullshit people call "hope".0 -

watching that video only reminds me of how much this country has deteriorated the past 10 years. seriously, this country has gotten so backwards thanks to 9/11 and the subsequent culture of patriotic morons that came about.0

why would you hold Ed to a higher standard than the rest of us? he's a person. i'm a person. you're a person. that person over there is a person. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs_rXxi0zhM
when dealing with empire small changes in policy affect millions of people, can literally mean life or death for them. and Obama hasn't pulled a Bush, hasn't decided to bomb some defenseless third world country, and he hasn't pulled a Clinton, bombing some pharmecuetical plant in africa......and so far we can almost guarantee he's been better than Mccain....that's a victory. a small victory, but a victory. who knows, maybe next election cycle we will get a real progressive.0 -
