    I've never seen why this is a big deal.

    When I first heard about it, I immediately asked how far away is OK for the mosque. Nobody can give a good answer to that one.

    It's 3 blocks if you go 3 blocks in any direction from Ground Zero I think you'd find plenty of things that do no uphold the sanctity of that spot - peep shows, bars, etc.
    The only people we should try to get even with...

    People just need to quit worrying about what everyone else is doing...Don't like that a mosque or cultural center or titty bar is being built where you don't think it should, buy the fucking land and build your own tower of babel...

    If you'd do me the favor of actually reading my very short post, you'd see that it made no statement for or against the mosque. Rather, my post was merely countering the tired-out and meaningless arguments of some folks in this thread.

    If you must know, I'm torn on the subject. Personally, I can't help but find it preposterous that we should accept this new building as some sort of "outreach" or symbol of "tolerance". However, philosophically, legally, Constitutionally, in the spirit of what I think America is, I have a very hard time justifying its prevention.

    I don't think it's overly irrelevant. To say that because the terrorists were muslim that we shouldn't allow a mosque 3 blocks away is just being ridiculous.

    actually it's not. a lot of catholic priests seem to like to fuck little kids and yet no one is protesting a new catholic church being built. my point is you say islamic extremists took down the towers, fine, so you really think EVERYONE of that faith should be punished and treated like terrorists? don't you see how ridiculous that is!? how many innocent people did the inquisitions and witch trials kill? maybe we should boycott all religious centers instead of just one particular one?

    it's not a mosque and it's not at ground zero. it's a community centre.

    The Cordoba Center will be about the same size as the YMCA's, 92ndY in Tribeca, and the JCC (Jewish Community Center). It is being modeled after the 92ndY (YMHA) which has Jewish events. The "Y" has never been called a Synagogue nor has The YMCA ever been called a Church. The building will have a pool, theater, culinary center and other features.

    according to an fbi report from somewhere in the 90's-2005 there were more cases of terrorism against the us from jewish extremists than muslims ones, yet i don't see people protesting jcc's or synagogue's

    So should we punish everyone do to the actions of extremists? Isnt that what they want? They are loving the attention that is being given to this mosque. Im sure they are using it as a great recruiting tool. Keep adding to the fire.

    Well said. i a very sore subject for many Americans, and it should be. This guy who wants to build it is a shady dude. Where are the funds gonna come from that he has to raise to build it? Anyone who supports this thing is fucking high. Makes me fucking sick.
