    Go Braves!!!

I'm still surprised that they've been able to play as well as they have. At the beginning of the year I was expecting a mediocre team.

Hope they can keep it going because that would be a great send-off for ol' Bobby.

Jarrjens has really made the starting pitching strong.

yeah, I was excited for Jair to come off the dl and take Kawakami's spot in the rotation

for as big a contract as he signed, Kawakami sure has been a bust (and pricey long reliever)

The Braves stole Tim Collins from the Blue Jays in that Escobar deal. Watch out for him, because that guy is going to be good.

Two absolutely dominant performances by Cliff Lee and CJ Wilson. And the lead over the dreaded Halo is now 7. And I am now drinking the red Ranger Kool-Aid. I always try to avoid it, but always give in, like some kind of alcoholic.

    The Angles can suck it.

That would be a great World Series. One hapless franchise vs. a formerly hapless franchise. Cliff Lee vs. his old team. Dallas/Ft. Worth vs. Philly.

Great effort by Chone last night.
Sign the big contract and then don't care.

Tough time believing that a package headlined by Joe freaking Saunders is the best package for Haren. I know they like the prospects, but still.

really? I think it's a good deal for the D-Backs. It seems like you're forgetting that this is a guy who was 33-14 in the last two years and is 54-32 lifetime.

I don't know, man. I think it is a pretty horrible package. I don't think Saunders is very good, and his salary is going to go up to around $6 mil next year. He is a 29 year old junkballer. I don't think he is close to what a team should get for a borderline ace under team control for 2 more years at a reasonable price.

The Rangers are legit. I picked them before the season to win the Division, and now with Cliff lee, I think they can beat anyone in the playoffs, my Yankees included

I agree with cliff, that package is weak. Seemed like the dbags were desperate to just cut payroll.

Saunders is average at best. Individual won-loss records for pitchers are pretty meaningless. Look at someone like greinke or cain...they are good, but don't have good career winning percentages

I also read that Saunders had the highest run support in all of baseball last year. And now this year the Angels offense has been fairly anemic and look at his record. Now that he is on a horrific team, I doubt he will sniff .500.

were the yankees in the mix for harren?

what do you think they'll end up doing now?

I doubt Haren even helps the Angels the next two months. The Rangers have taken hold of the division and won't be looking back. Ron Washington will be rolling up 100s with two weeks left in the season I'm betting.

To me, the most interesting race in baseball (other than ALEast) is once again the AL central. All three of those teams are basically equal. I give the slight edge to the Twins, only because Ron Gardenhire is the coolest manager in the game, but that race will surely be interesting. The White Sox bullpen is tight, and if that holds up they'll be right there too.

I have nothing to add regarding the NL.

And finally, I hate Okajima so much.

On Friday it sounded like they were close to a deal but I guess the Yanks wouldn't include Joba. I am glad. Joba has been horrific but I hate to give up on the kid already and I think that trade could have closed the door on Lee if Pettitte comes back.

Honestly, no clue. I read they may have offered Montero in a deal for Soria but KC wasn't interested because they have solid catching prospects in their system. I would like to see them get Lilly but I read the Yanks don't want him. They can keep HUghes in the rotation until Pettitte comes back then Hughes can go to the pen because he has an innings limit. They need bullpen help and the bench. They will most definitely make a trade for a bench player but I have no guesses as to who that might be.

I read K Law today and he mentioned how this sets them up great for next year. This trade may have been done more for next year than this year. Also, the other day I read they are going to go very hard after Carl Crawford this offseason.

I'd fully expect them to do so. They have an opening there and the team does very well financially.

I read he may ask for Matt Holliday money but that will not happen. My guess would be 5 years $13 mil a year, something along those lines.

haha, I saw this the other day. That is great. The cops just basically stood around and walked after him. I think it's great that he didn't give up until the ump basically told him to stop. haha.

Yes, definitely they were thinking long term. I mean, he will help them this year, but that is a lot of ground to make up.

Yeah, he beat the Yankees twice in the WS last year. But with the Rangers, I'll believe that when I see it.

Personally, I think they win the division. But advancing to the WS? I don't know. The blind-to-reality Rangers fan in me is ecstatic! The realist Rangers fan who has dealt with years of futility - not so much.

They are different this year though. It was so fun hearing the crowd chant "Beat L.A." all weekend.
