that makes you cringe. There are very few, as I love Ed's lyrics, but one that I sort of laugh at every time I hear:

"it's like she lost her invitation to the party on Earth"

It actually sounds like something I would write.

Well, when you just take one line and and place it out of context it does sound pretty silly. But then again, take "I got bugs" as a lyric on it's own and it sounds dumber than the I Love Turtles Kid.

There are a few that always bothered me, although just like the OP, I love 99.9% of Ed's lyrics:

"Trying to shake the cancer off? Stupid human beings."

"I'll be.... playing with my magazine, Using up my Listerine, Like Ovaltine." -- Come on Stone, you can come up with something better than that.

    "I'll never suck Satan's dick..."
"FF, I've heard the droning about the Sawx being the baby dolls. Yeah, I get it, you guys invented baseball and suffered forever. I get it." -JearlPam0925

Didn't realize Stone was fair game! "Don't Gimme No Lip" x20...

I understand what he's getting at within the context of the song, but the single lyric makes me laugh

"I never knew soap made you taller"

always thought they said "On a rocking horse at times" - which would to me meant seeing the world through the eyes of a child sometimes. I like that better and I'm sticking with it :D still an amazing song though...

Agreed 100%. In fact when I play LBC I change that particular line to suit myself. Funnily enough though it's all subjective ain't it, cause I like some of the other lines people have listed on here, such as 'ask, I'm an ear', and even the OP's breakerfall one

But top of the list of rub-me-the-wrong-way is definitely the ovaltine line. No offence Stone. It just irks me!

OK, I hesitated to even post this because I so deeply appreciate all of PJ's music, and I think Ed is one of the best writer's of all time. But I have to see if anyone agrees.

I love "Just Breathe," but I feel like he's reaching a bit when he sings...

"Some folks just have one, others they got none."

I feel like that's too easy! The same guy that writes the lines in "Black" should not be writing a line that *I* could come up with. I couldn't write Black. I could write that line in Just Breathe. The line just seems like he was quickly trying to force something to rhyme.
  • I personally love that one because of its raw intensity.
