"I have wished for so long...
How I wished for you today"

After listening to Eat Pray Love's soundtrack today, both Long Road & Better Days feels so much alike. If Nusrat was alive today, the man's vocal's would so be on the Better Day's track along with Ed. Nusrat is on Mount Olympus right now.

Nusrat is up there with my favourite artists. He was the most incredible gift to the world. Have been listening to his music for longer than Pearl Jams, my uncle was a massive fan and was playing his stuff for me as a young boy whenever we would stay at his house.

I was fortunate enough to see this live when they shared the stage at the Groundwork Benefit in Seattle in 2001. It was an amazing performance.

I happened to see Dead Man Walking last night for the first time. The opening tunes are of Vedder and Ali Khan.

Oddly, I just stumbled across an old VHS tape of Nusrat that was broadcast (coincidentally) the night he died.

An amazing singer. If you can track down the "Dead Man Walking - the Score", i 'd highly recommend it. The full unedited versions of The Face of Love (10 mins+) and Long Road (16 mins +) are on it and really showcase Nusrat's contributions so much more.

I don't think I've listened to that disc in at least a decade. I'll have to throw it on tonight when I get home.

Do you have the score versions of Long Road or Face of Love on the site? I can't check from work. They're nice extended versions, each over 10 mins long. I have the CD, so if you want them for gremmie.net and there's an easy way to get the files over to the site, let me know. Bear in mind my music ripping skills are pretty limited.
