sometimes some things happen
and they're not what you expected

you wake up with a feeling
that really sets you reeling
and you wonder just how long you have been blind

you touch her while she's sleeping
and she whispers something careless
the taste of her still lingers on your lips

and you tell yourself it's nothing
in the morning you'll remember
that the night is still the night and then it's gone

but the dawn brings back the moment
as you stare out of the window
and you realize how much you have to lose

so you make a pot of coffee
and you listen to the wind blow
and you go walking aimlessly along the shore

seems the space I've put between us
is just something to replace us
and the pain we've felt since each of us has gone

so I'm packin up my suitcase
and I'll see you in the morning
because..................
