Kind of reminds of 'Let Me Sleep'
  • geckogecko Posts: 1,712
    Not running from something
    I'm running towards the day
    let me sleep.

    A whisper once quiet
    Now rising to a scream
    Let me sleep!

    I'm falling, free falling
    Words calling me
    Let me sleep.

    I'm soaring and, darling,
You'll be the one that I can need
    Still LET ME SLEEP!

Not mocking, the words wormed their way into my head, now I am singing this way. :D

'better days' made me feel sick the first time I heard it - gave me vertigo! (and the last time) - I like it a lot, but it feels like something coming from way out in the ocean (I'm not much of a swimmer!)

It also has a kind of Buddhist / Mantra / chanting feel to it.

Like I say I really like the song, but it's quite intense, and not for when I'm feeling faint-hearted. Other times though I've just found it straightforward and uplifting. Kind of depends on timing and mood

Funny that you say that, because the song reminded me of Avatar, and Avatar gave me vertigo (even 2D)- I am afraid of heights.

(If anyone else comes out with the fear of spiders, birds, or sheep, I am calling bullshit.) :D

Avatar is shit - fans should take up tai chi and roam the wilds - feel it for real!:o

Anybody know if the Eat Pray Love soundtrack will be available on vinyl?
It's on sale on iTunes tomorrow, mp3 style.

Tai chi is just disguised as hippie nonsense; it is actually a hardcore esoteric martial art which allows you to 'hover' and also to repel attackers with your back to them - using a burst of radiated energy from up to 257 metres away. Have you never seen Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon....? :D

No, but I used to see a lot of people practising Tai chi in Golden Gate park. Does that get me anything?! ;)

At first I wasn't crazy about this song. It didn't grab me at all. I'm glad I gave it a 3rd, 4th and 5th listen because it has taken me over and has not let go.

Eddie Vedder leads 'Eat Pray Love'

Following Pearl Jam's triumphant Hyde Park gig this summer, vocalist/guitarist Eddie Vedder writes and performs the new track 'Better Days', the first single from the soundtrack for the new film 'Eat Pray Love'.

The single and 'Eat Pray Love' soundtrack will be released on September 20th, while the Julia Roberts starring film adaptation of the best selling Elizabeth Gilbert novel opens in the UK on September 24th.

Continuing in the same vein as 'Just Breathe' from Pearl Jam's 2009 album 'Backspacer', 'Better Days' shows a softer ' yet just as accomplished ' side to Vedder and his songwriting.

Taking inspiration from world music, the track's globetrotting feel fits perfectly with the theme of the movie, which sees Julia Roberts' character sets out on a voyage of self-discovery through Italy, India and Bali.

'Better Days' follows Vedder's 2007 solo album 'Into The Wild', which served as the soundtrack to the Sean Penn directed film of the same name.

The soundtrack for 'Eat Pray Love' also features 'The Long Road', a song originally featured on the 'Dead Man Walking' soundtrack and for which Vedder collaborated with the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Music by Marvin Gaye, Neil Young, Bebél Gilberto, João Gilberto, Josh Rouse and Dario Marianelli is also featured on the 'Eat Pray Love' soundtrack.

The film is directed by Ryan Murphy, co-produced by Brad Pitt and also stars Javier Bardem.

The tracklisting for the 'Eat Pray Love' OST is as follows:

    1. 'Flight Attendant' - Josh Rouse
    2. 'Last Tango In Paris (Suite Pt. 2)' - Gato Barbieri
    3. 'Thank You (Fallettin Me Be Mice Elf Agin)' - Sly & The Family Stone
    4. 'Der Hölle Rache Kocht In Meinem Herzen' from "Die Zauberflöte (The Magic
Flute)" - Wiener Philharmoniker, George Solti Conductor
    5. 'Heart Of Gold' - Neil Young
    6. 'Kaliyugavaradana' - U. Srinivas
    7. 'The Long Road' - Eddie Vedder, with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
    8. 'Harvest Moon' - Neil Young
    9. 'Samba Da Bençáo' - Bebél Gilberto
    10. 'Wave' - João Gilberto
    11. 'Got To Give It Up (Part 1)' - Marvin Gaye
    12. ''S Wonderful' - João Gilberto
    13. 'Better Days' - Eddie Vedder
    14. 'Attraversiamo' - Dario Marianelli

It's a different version than what is in on Merkinball. This version was originally featured on the Dead Man Walking soundtrack.

(PS)The movie trailer doesn't nudge me to run to the theatre but the rumor is there are surprises :o I'm going to see it because I trust that Ed would not be associated with a lousy movie! and then there is Ms. Roberts :P who is awesome at everything.....
