They want commitment to New Orleans recovery

A string of acts including REM, Pearl Jam and My Morning Jacket have petitioned for the candidates in the US Presidential election to debate in New Orleans about Louisiana coastal wetlands restoration and hurricane recovery.

Ok Go, Jackson Browne, Trent Reznor, Funky Meters, Allen Toussaint are also among the acts to sign the petition which is requesting that politicians focus on issues in the area from wetlands rebuilding and a sustainable hurricane recovery programme.

The Presidential forum is being organised by Google and YouTube, in which members of the public will be able to ask questions of the candidates by submitting YouTube videos. So far, neither Senator Barack Obama nor Senator John McCain have committed to the event.

Well, he could had been telling the truth- I think he meant that he wasn't going to be seeing the NY area for awhile, which could be true. The VFC tour didn't come through NY in 04, did it?

that makes a lot of sense. Yeah, it won't be a ton of shows for sure. I really hope that this comes true.

nope..boston, PA, Toledo, fla, Asheville, St. Lou, and G.R. michigan

dont think NY again but it'll be some random shit..maybe a texas show finally and they kinda have this thing of acknowledging our threads a bit late like the South AMerica petitions, the Euriope petitions so I think they might focus on the south this time...I want them to play Geore W's hometown and bust out Bushleaguer and masters of war as well as state of missisippi

    so!
states that SHOULD get a show this time around that have been neglected for a while

    Miss.
    Texas
    Arizona
    N.O
    K.C
    N.M
and maybe one or 2 more

    its going down people

Hmmm....both REM and Trent (NIN) are playing in New Orleans at the end of October. Come on PJ, you know you want to!! I'm thinking anytime between the 23rd - 26th would be good :D ...although I do really want to see NIN so the 25th would probably be not so good for me ;)
