I don't get why people bid on something days before the auction is over

I usually agree too, I hate when I bid on something cheap and then in the last 5 minutes, boom it goes all the way up and out of range!

I thought that is what everyone does - I just don't get why people like to drive up the price if they really want the item

sometimes... and im not saying it happens here... the seller might have a friend or family member that will outbid you just to drive the price up... which is another reason why i wait until the last second to bid... doesn't give any sketchy seller the chance to drive prices up

Dude, I am always so worried about that sort of thing. I assume it has to happen, especially since they hide the bidders info now a days.

i see it happen more than you know... there is no way that many people are bidding on certain random items... unfortunately i cannot think of one example right now, but that def happens

not a shot at anyone here, but it is MORONIC to bid early with how ebay is set up

it is NOT a real life auction where everyone will get a last chance before the item finally sells... there is no glory to be had with back and forth price increases

good strategy is to wait til the last second then enter the max amount you would spend... if someone does the same and their max amount is more than they deserve that item... if the price suddenly spikes to your max price but you win then just be happy you got it for the price you entered

Ya but this one ships worldwide, other one only ships to the U.S. Plus you have to consider that the higher something sells for the more ebay charges the seller. People make up for these fees by charging more for shipping.

I would never sell mine. I was talking to a buddy this weekend he said he would sell it for $700. I don't think he would ever get that much but if anyone is interested in paying that ridiculous price, let me know. I can direct you on where you can contact him. He is not in the 10C anymore so he never comes here. He had the lp sitting in a box it is in great condition and sealed.

What you are referring to is called Shill Bidding. It is a form of fraud. Most auction websites monitor this VERY closely and have their own proprietor algorithms to detect this. Shill bidding is actually a federal offense in many different countries(i do not think it is a federal offense in the US though).

It is hard to detect sometimes but if you are a friend or family member of an eBay seller who asks you to do this please DON'T.. it will get you into trouble no matter what. IP address gives away a lot of info.
