Of course with a thread like this a ton of people are going to have comments on how could this song be higher than this song, etc. etc. etc. Everyone has their favorite songs and others will agree or disagree. That's what makes Pearl Jam so awesome - they have so many amazing songs that touch people in different ways. I tried ranking all of their songs before, but I know this could change week to week, or even day to day. Listening to some of the bootlegs could influence that - like now I would have to move up Push Me Pull Me after hearing it in Boston!

    Great thread...

I've never liked Black, and it's not a "too overplayed" kind of thing, I've just never liked it. The first time I listened to Ten I thought, this sucks, SKIP, and I skipped it every time I've listened to Ten. When I found out it was so popular among fans, I decided to start listening to it a lot, I still don't like it. It's just a boring song to me.

wow, i cant believe i found sb. who doesnt like black :D
i dont hate the song, but i think it is VERY overrated! heard it live twice and it was amazing, especially this year in berlin but it surely isnt in my top 10!

I can respect this because I feel the exact same way about Off He Goes.
  • Yeah this list changes daily for me also but I thought it would just be fun to do and see how the pearl jam nation agrees/disagrees with the list. Come on...its fun

hell yeah, it IS fun, i've been trying to do my own one, but seriously, i cant!! cant sleep, so i will keep trying!!!
to me, its not just the studio version i have to consider, i have to think about the live version on each song, for example johnny guitar, never really fell for it when i heard backspacer, but in berlin... <3
that makes the whole think a lot more difficult!

Good work for even thinking of putting a list together... too hard for me!!!
To save alot of arguments, how about we all list our top 10's, and somehow come up with a formula like that of working out our ten club membership numbers??!

i am right in the middle of my own list, started with writing down every song from the studio records and lost dogs... now comes the hard part...
  • Yeah, the way I did it was listing all studio albums and puttin each album in order from my least fav to my fav. It took a long time, but I had fun with it. I did factor in live versions of the song. My id say my top 25-30 would stay the same.

haha i still havent finished and i am pretty sure i NEVER will... when i thought i had a pretty god top 20, i noticed that i totally forgot backspacer LOL
it will be a lot more fun seeing what i have written down then reading the actual list...
i think there are only REALLY quite songs in my top whatever, even though i enjoy the others more when seeing them live... weird!!!
    was sth. like:
    1. Come Back/Daughter, can't decide
    2. Jeremy
    3. Indifference
    4. Yellow Ledbetter
    5. World Wide Suicide
    6. The End
    7. Love Boat Captain
    8. Gonna See My Friend
    9. In my Tree
    10. Immortality
    11.Small Town
    12. Footsteps
    13. Wash
    14. Inside Job
    15. Rearviewmirror
    16. Smile
    17. Present Tense

but then i noticed i forgot some really great songs, so if you are interested in my list, you gotta be patient i guess ;)

  • I tried to do this once. gave up, but a good start is to put all the songs in a playlist on itunes or whatever you use.

either rate them from 5 to 1 using harsh ratings relative in terms to pearl jams level of quality. then sort them by ratings and just adjust from there.
