    Even if it is real, I've never fully understood the massive inflation in the price of something because it is signed - especially without genuine proof or the authenticity.

    It's worth the same as any other used strat pick guard - ie nothing much.

    I think the value in a signature comes from meeting the person, having them sign something for you as a mark of mutual respect or goodwill and then having that as a momento of the meeting. Like catching an Eddie pick or tamborine, you know he probably aimed it at you and wanted you to have it, so that's what makes it worthing something - to you.

    With the exception of items like the signed guitar Joni-Lee has managed to have the band donate, random (are they real or are they not??) signatures are worthless to anyone other than the person who had the item signed.

    I think if we all stopped purchasing items like this, the band would be far more willing to sign items when they meet fans, knowing they are not contributing to an insane after market or unsrupulous fraudster market.

    I always tell them to make it out to me. It looks a lot cooler up on the wall... I'm never gonna sell it... and they take the time to write something else and give you a nice, clean autograph.. instead of a scribble.

    i have a signed 3 foot x 2 foot picture of Donald Bradman (greatest cricket batsman to ever play the game). My dad and brother also have one. he signed them because my dad did him a favour and that was how he returned the favour. It's made out to me and is mounted on the wall in my lounge room. Everyone who sees it comments on it.. As far as I'm concerned it is worthless to anyone other than me because it is made out to me and also because there is no certificate to go with it. But i know he did it and that's all that counts.

    That's what i was saying, certificates are not really proof, neither are photos of the person signing the item etc etc etc, which is why they are not really worth a monetary value, more a sentimental value. I'd estimate the value of my framed photo is probably a couple of hundred bucks (what it cost to enlarge and frame), not the $2500 you see them going for from time to time.

    must say, i'd much prefer to buy the pick guard and strap it on a legit fender than get one of those signed squires you always see online... though if the sigs aren't on the guitar itself its nowhere near as cool

    in any case... it looks real enough to me... compared it to mine... but mikes a bit of a scribbler so theres no tellin for sure :P
