I was just wondering, has anyone ever bumped into the guys on the beach before a gig on the coast? Was listening to the boot from West Palm Beach 00 this morning and Ed thanks someone (cant remember his name) for showing them around and "looking for surf that didnt exist". He follows that with a rather cheesy line, "the only thing breaking today was my heart". Anyway, just wondering if any fellow surfers have ever bumped into the band surfing before a show.

I think he also thanked some dudes for a wet suit and a board in the Lisbon 2000 boot.

I know a lifeguard from Waimea Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, who told me that he noticed Eddie surfing with some guys back in December 2006 when the band was in Hawaii opening for U2. December is at the height of wave season in that part of the Pacific, so I imagine Eddie was very happy on that particular trip.

I don't know if this was posted here before, but the guy from The David Crowder Band wrote a story on his blog about meeting celebrities, and him being celebrity to someone, and how celebrities are like Santa, some are real, some are part time employers. Anyway, he says that after meeting Ed, he believes in Santa, aw.

He approached Ed in Hawaii, they talked, it ended with Ed spending next day with him teaching him surfing.
I didn't post the link as it is a very long read, and it feels like it intrudes in Ed's private life more than public life.
