question for the poster-seekers...

Just curious, what is your usual motive for your poster purchases? Do you just get the ones relating to shows you've attended? Do you go for the appealing art? Collectability? Just curious! :-)

I collect for a.) memories and b.) bad ass shit hanging in my house. I do not collect for c.) ripping off fellow fans by selling for hundreds on ebay. I despise that shit. Some people live by it. To each their own and God bless the greenback.

PS: I'm just pist I have to pay hundreds on ebay. :)

I only collect the posters for the shows I've been to, which has been quite a process in and of itself. I remember the Rushmore prints going for something like $15 when I was at the show, and now S/N mint ones are quite expensive. However, most shows this decade can still be acquired for a fair price. And the people who buy posters in bulk then try to make bank on eBay are starting to dwindle, as the poster-flipping heyday of the mid 2000s has dulled considerably. Case in point, a S/N Emek KC from this year has been hanging around on eBay for a month with an asking price of $425, then $385. With this economy, I don't see the seller getting half of that.

  • i collect posters from shows i have been to and then usually frame them right away. i also collect anything from ames, even if i havent been to the show. most people seem to not like their recent stuff from the past few years but the crazier and more goofy the image the more i love it!

    I purchase posters for
the shows I've attended on principle,
plus I usually do dig the artwork.
But there's just some cool stuff out there
that simply must get gotten, y'know?
Finally got my LA 1 poster in the mail-
    the smoking cauldron!
    Cheers.

Purchase for art to hang on my walls, to trade for those I don't have and to line the bottom of a bird cage, if I ever get one. I also sell some after several years for money to buy more.

I primarily purchase shows that I've been to. Occasionally I'll grab one that looks like it might spike in value; I'm hoping to amass enough value in a few posters to eventually land my white whale (Hartford '98).
