Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT alter/change anything about your new song "of the earth". It is perfect the way it is. If you guys decide to make a studio version please leave it the way it is. The verses, the chorus, mikes solo, the build up leading back into the verses, the outro, it's all PERFECT. Please leave it as the trippy prog rock jam that it is.

And seeing how amazing that song is, please tailor your songs around matts playing more! :)

who agrees with me?

I wish I did. I find it to be a pretty lackluster song at this stage, and think it's likely in its infancy, as at no point are you drawn into the song... any form of hook is absent in my opinion. I will agree with you though, that it's ideal for Matt's style.

Not me. My least favorite songs seem to be this way. Just my preferences.

I agree! Fully! Matt's drumming on his songs are amazing. He presents a canvas, which is unique to him, for the band to write a song around. :D

Though I would like to throw in "Dear Matt, please play the old stuff the way it used to sound, do not, I repeat DO NOT alter/change anything about the old music from the way it used to be played, as that would be the same as someone doing that to your songs".

...you know I had to. :D

yup, they definitely should work around his playing more often. If this song is any indication of their next album, then I'm hoping it will be a freakin masterpiece. This song really shows off the entire bands talent. I'm so used to hearing basic rock songs from PJ that when I heard this heavy "pearlgarden" (as you described it) or prog rock sounding song, it got me so excited that they actualy wrote something that's not just basic rock an roll. Who knows, maybe their next album will be totally expirmental and a "pearlgarden" album.

Oh and of course you had to throw that in there. This drum debate will never end hahahaha

Matt and Mike are both bad ass on this song!! I personally love all Matt's pj tunes!

    Can I disagree with you?

I think it still needs something. Not sure what, but it feels like a work in progress.

I like the potential this tune has... but it never takes off... it's repetitive and drawn out...

I think it could be cool, but it's too... flat. Idunno, I'm no music expert... I just get kinda bored by it after a few minutes in until the very end.

I can't stop listening to this song. It's so freakin good! That drum pattern Matt plays during the riff is so freakin tight.

The only thing that sounds like a work in progress to me is the random ending. You think it would end with the riff but it ends slowly with mike going off. But even that I love and I don't think should be changed.

Of course they will change it. Did they ever play any song the same? They will screw it, they will make it better, that's what they do. And we will be here, looking for the perfect version, cursing them, then praising them, that's what we do. :D
I think it is perfect as it is, and little afraid of studio version, you just know they will screw it, but down the road they will make it right anyway.

If they have yet to record this officially, please just jam it out in 1 take. It's ok for music to have imperfections as a studio recording. Jamming it out in 1 take will keep it sounding as raw as the song is. ...and to quote the felon Martha Stewart, "it's a good thing".
