am i the only one who was really disappointed with PJ's setlist from Dublin last nite. Felt that too many great songs were not played. it was my 10th Pj show and it was amazing. the crowd were amazing and band on fire. but no rearview, immortality, nothing off no code. Maybe im just nitpicking but i was maybe i was spoiled with berlin last year

i wish i wish i wish i wish, i guess it never stops

Sorry to hear you were disappointed by the set list... I hope you still managed to have a good time - I'd love to go see a bunch of European shows, as what attracts me to this band isn't the songs they play, but the way they harness energy and interact with the crowd. Looks like you're just going to have to see more shows :D

For the first show of a mini-tour, I thought the setlist looked solid. Great encores, including Of The Earth. I say you have much to be thankful for for being at that show.

  • Disappointing Set List? God, You people make me sick. I've never had a complaint and never will. They could play evenflow and alive 5 times each and I'd still appreciate it and rock out.

Get a grip on yourself. Don't claim to be a fan, and then post that garbage saying they disappointed you.

Ok fanboy....I'm calling you on your bullshit. No way anyone would be happy about PJ playing nothing but Alive and Evenflow 5 times each.

You don't get to pick who can and cannot call themselves a fan of the band. Get off that horse.

Its all subjective, but I can tell you I'd probably never be disappointed if I heard a brand new song, and a never cover in one night - in 20+ shows that's never happended to me.

everyones got a opinion, but the band have a huge catalogue, i think they do their best each and every show to put on a great show with a great setlist.
    thats my opinion

If you read my post i just said i was disappointed with the SET LIST, not the performance. the concert was amazing. Pj are always fab live but i have every right to give my opinion. to say that im not a 'true fan' because i commented about a set list makes me laugh out loud.

This Friday will be my first Pearl Jam gig... I really would LOVE a setlist like Dublin's, but I guess because they mix it up so much, it's unlikely now...

I REALLY wanted to hear Long Road

I would start a "Please play Long Road" thread but I've got a feeling that would just annoy people more than anything, plus I have no real reason to!

Can't wait to see what we get!

I consider myself a fan of Apple products, yet would (and have) happily registered complaints about them. Similarly, I consider myself a Pearl Jam fan, although I've attended a few Pearl Jam shows I personally consider to have been lackluster. All of that said, don't tell me (or the OP) that we are not as worthy of fans as you are - when you attend a concert, you have the right to voice your opinion of it from the moment you exchange money for a ticket. In fact, I would say voicing an opinion on a matter is one of few things that separate us as humans from sheep.

    My two cents:

    1) I wouldn't be happy with a set that consisted of Alive played over and over again, even though its a great song. A lot of the fun around obsessively following setlists is the variety, and part of the awesome vibe around seeing PJ in person is not knowing for sure what they'll play.
    2) People complaining about setlists doesn't really bother me ... I mean, I didn't think this set was super-duper exciting either in terms of the song selection, although the new tune IS super-duper exiting. The good news is that they'll be playing a bunch more shows, with different setlists, and my "OMGGGG!!!" setlist moment will likely come later in the tour. All that being said, I do wonder if someone really likes the band all that much if they feel that the ONLY way to enjoy a show is getting the exact songs they want. Not accusing the OP of that, just confessing to questioning some others who seem unhappy no matter what the band does.

The OP actually did describe the show as 'amazing', stating a great crowd, and that the band was 'on fire'. To me it seemed evident that the OP had a good time, just wished for a more unique set list - seems fair to me!

For the most part it looks like quite a 'safe' setlist, so I can understand a bit of dissapointment if the OP is comparing it with some of the mind-blowing sets that they've put together at other shows. Personally speaking though, I'm always just grateful for the times I get to see PJ live. It was a long wait from 2000-2006 when they didn't play Europe at all!

By the way I thought the Dublin setlist was really good and I would love to have been at the first show that they played Of The Earth.

It's funny how your username is lawyer, yet you aren't very logical. Fans of a band can never be disappointed by that band?

Congrats on being fine hearing the same two songs over and over again and never having a complaint. 99% of Pearl Jam's true diehard fans don't fall into either of those two categories.

    Everything in perspective.

Not the best show I have been too but every PJ show I have been to has a 'unique wow glad I didn't miss this' moment. For most this would be Arms Aloft and Of the Earth. But I have to say one of the best betterman sing alongs and Alive was electric. My personal fav was Not For Me & Arms Aloft

For me this setlist was actually better than I was expecting as the 1st show of the tour is normally shorter than most with a standard hits feel. Dublin didn;t have that but didn't quite hit the highs of some of the shows I have seen.

Still it just different degrees of incredibleness in my opinion.
Now it all comes down to numbers, now I'm glad that I have quit

streetcore is such a great record, for my favorite band to play a song by one of my all-time favorites (for the first time ever)....and debut an original....i'm not sure i would remember anything else about the setlist if i was at that show. that's the greatest thing about pearl jam shows...they can play 30 great tunes and blow you away, and still there's going to be somebody that says "i wish they played...." they just have so much, no matter what they give you, you still want more.

it is a very basic setlist (except for earth)
but dont be disappointed that you didnt get a rarities/deep cut set

you pays your money and takes your chances-thats why you need to hit more than one show
you never know when that gem is going to be played

I wouldn't call it too basic. Maybe I'm not spoiled by having visited umpteen concerts already, but 2 never before played songs in 1 gig is pretty special if you ask me :)
